Mt Pleasant Christmas Parade

Add another item to our list of new holiday family traditions. The list seems to grow each day. We'll have a lot to choose from next year! The Mount Pleasant Christmas parade took place last night - Sunday, December 14th. It is like most small town parades (for those Old Soldiers Reunion and East Bend July 4th parade goers). It was complete with the local bands, cheerleaders, daycares, little leage teams, pageant queens, the Mayor and local news personalities. The difference in this Christmas parade is that it is held at night and starts off with fireworks. All the floats, boats, cars, and golf carts are decorated with bright lights. It did not feel like Christmas - I was burning up in my light weight sweater. Payton didn't even need a coat! It was definitely unique. A tradition we will likely continue next year!
Payton and Daddy enjoy the parade. Nice Ho Ho bib buddy!
Of course, we couldn't go alone! We enjoyed this new adventure with Matt, Lindsey and Ella. Lindsey and I had made several dishes for appetizers to enjoy during the parade. Unfortunately, we were not there early enough for prime parking! We'll know better next year! The top of the BOB stroller served as our table for sandwiches and brownies!

Payton and Ella appeared to enjoy all the sights and sounds. Ella and Matt did not like the guns - Matt jumped and Ella cried! Payton wasn't phased by the loud boom. Maybe his Santa hat protected him!

A parade is not a parade without an old Corvette. My favorite part of course! It is almost Carolina blue as well! In addition to the Corvette there were several old Fords, like my Uncle Alfred's antique car. They were playing bluegrass music as they went by and for a split second Payton thought he saw his Great-Uncle "Hub" in the drivers seat. Maybe he can join in next year!

We didn't make it to the end - I assume there was a jolly Ho Ho wrapping up the parade. With two 8 month old babies a night time parade is bad for the schedule! Payton and Ella will see Santa next year!

Payton, I am so glad to see your tree and your house with the stockings. It was all so lovely. Meme has waited for two weeks to see all the lovely Christmas pictures of you and all the fun you are having for the holiday season. I am glad you like your tree as much as you liked ours. It was so much fun to watch your eyes glow just as your face does.
