Another busy week!

It seems that our life gets more hectic with each passing week.  I'm beginning to understand that this pattern will continue!  Chad was home most of the week, Cindy was not sick, our air did break again but we had it fixed in about 36 hours, and I had to work on Friday which meant we had no "Fun Friday!"  I had to hire a babysitter for Friday morning so I could go into work for my annual competencies (yes, I am still a competent pediatric nurse!).

I took advantage of having the extra help and treated myself to a pedicure and a hair cut.  My hair is the shortest it has been since 2003!  I thought I would miss my long hair but I'm wondering why I didn't chop it off before!  Don't worry, nothing crazy this time, no red color, still a nice light brown color and my hair still touches my shoulders (didn't want to freak my father out!!).  After my relaxing pampering, I returned home to my bubbly, happy, giggly toddler.  It all went down hill from there!

He has turned into a very active, stubborn, inquisitive, fearless, overly emotional, temper-tantrum throwing little boy.  For the first time in nearly 14 months, I wanted to turn around and walk back out the door and leave him at home!  I chased him up the stairs 100 times, I told him "no, no, no" 100 times, I chased him all over the house as he opened doors, closed doors, and went places he wasn't supposed to go, I attempted to clean up his room and he attempted to make it worse, he emptied drawers, he tried to break my computer, and then finally, as I attempted to work out in the bonus room he took a head first dive down the steps.  I caught him as he tumbled to the fourth step and then I panicked, called Chad who was gone to workout, and cried!  That little stubborn toddler scared me to death!  I guess that will not be the last time he scares me!  As a pediatric nurse, I have often wondered how I would react if we had an "emergency."  I can assure you as I watched him flip head first down the steps I was not a pediatric nurse....I was an overly anxious, hysterical mother....the type I have to deal with most days!  I checked his body for bruises and injuries, I checked his pupils, I asked him to repeat every word he knew, I made sure he could still walk normally, I debated about calling our pediatrician but it was 5:00.  After I calmed down, I realized he was going to be okay and there was probably no need for a trip to the ER.  Luckily, today he still seems to be doing fine!  Not even a bruise.

This week has been a busy one in Payton's little world.  He has definitely become more active.  He learned to climb backwards down the steps this week (but forgot that as he feel head first).  He babbles even more.  He wants to discover so many things...including the toilet and the toilet brush which he likes to carry around.  He opens EVERYTHING...drawers, cabinets, doors.  He takes clean, folded clothes out of drawers and carries them all over the house.  He picks up dirty clothes and puts them in his mouth.  He is currently putting his book in and out of a drawer.  He LOVES to play outside.  I think he would rather live outside.  He likes bubbles and balls and birds and loves to find all of them outside.  He is learning to hit his t-ball with his bat but he calls the bat a ball as well.  He sees a bird flying in the sky and calls it a "bir."  He drinks more and more milk everyday.  He calls his cup a "boggle" and constantly goes to the refrigerator to ask for his boggle.  He has learned that the remote turns the TV on and off.

Last night (after I had already decided I needed a small break from my precious little guy), we went out to dinner.  We were having Italian and I decided to order Payton cheese ravioli.  He had previously loved cheese ravioli.  This time, he wouldn't even taste it.  Chad and I spent the majority of our "relaxing" dinner tricking Payton into eating the ravioli.  Today at lunch we decided to have Mexican. I ordered him a cheese quesadilla and wondered if we would have the same problem.  He ate an entire cheese quesadilla and chips and salsa, some of my chicken and green peppers.  His eating habits change so frequently.  You just never know what he might do!  One thing is for sure, he will always eat his fruit.

After lunch today, we went to the bike shop.  Chad and I have been riding our bikes again with the beautiful weather and Payton rides behind in the Bee.  We decided it would be best for him to have a helmet. We bought him the cutest little bike helmet.  He tried it on and seemed to love it.  He looks adorable in it!  We are looking forward to using it many times this summer!
