Trying time with my Toddler

The past two days have been the most challenging yet.  I guess I can't really complain because my frustrations are definitely pushed to the back of my mind with each cackle and smile.  For each frustration there are at least 15 things Payton does to make me smile.

We really had a wonderful day today.  We headed out for a bike ride around 10:00, Payton napped, we had a nice lunch, and then did a little shopping and running errands.  We played outside and enjoyed watching Payton play with his T-ball and basketball.  He would have stayed all night.  After his afternoon nap, we headed out to dinner.  Payton is normally very predictable at dinner.  As soon as we sit down he is ready for goldfish or fig newtons, followed by his main course, followed by his fruit.  He normally gets most of this down before our food arrives and then occupies himself by people watching or chugging his milk.  Tonight, he changed his routine.  He learned to scream.  The scream should be defined as a high-pitched shrill.  He repeated it over and over and over.  Of course, we reacted and that made him want to continue.  He continued to scream as other patrons tried to enjoy their dinner.  For the first time, I wanted to crawl under my booth and hide.  I could feel my face turning red.  We finally made it though dinner and listened to him scream all the way home!  What fun!!

After we made it home it was time for bed.  As I was changing his nasty diaper, he flipped over and hit his head on the changing table.  Strike 2 for Mom for the weekend!  Within seconds there was a nice big blue bump.  I can only imagine what it will look like in the morning when we take him to church!  Hopefully Sunday will not bring another injury.  Things are not looking to good in that category right now!  I think he may have to start wearing his bike helmet around the house all the time!

Payton I hope you are finished with the screaming and ready to talk when I come to play with you. I can't wait to see you and mama and daddy! Please get all your bumps over with too!
