This is the longest break I have taken from my blogging...I'll attempt to get back up to speed quickly! We have been very busy and things are not going to slow down any time soon!
I'll flip back the calender to May 21st. Chad and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary on May 21st. It is truly amazing to think of all that has happened in our lives in the past four years. I can honestly say that had I been asked on May 21st 2005 to write down where I thought I would be in 2009 I would have been completely wrong! First of all, I would have never guessed I would have been living in Mt. Pleasant, SC for nearly two years and secondly, I doubt I would have put a 14 month old in the picture quite so quickly either....especially since I was convinced I would never be able to have children!! Even though my life is not at all how I would have planned it four years ago, it is exactly how it is supposed to be...for now I guess! It will be interesting to see what the next four years bring to our marriage. We have already been through some stress - 3 houses and 2 apartments, a few job changes, and too many nights spent alone or on the road but we have also lived through lots of bliss - a beautiful yellow lab, an adorable 14 month old and the new love of our lives, 2 trips to Aruba, 2 trips to Hawaii, one trip to Dayton, Ohio...ha!!, 2 trips to The Spa at the Grove Park Inn, lots of fun with family and friends, and one National Championship in Detroit! There are so many more good times....but I'm trying to be brief!! In all the craziness, I am happy to have my wonderful husband by my side. I'm not sure I would make through all the changes and challenges without him by my side. I love you Chadwick!
On Thursday (our Anniversary), Meme and Pawpaw arrived in Charleston. They were so nice to come to our house to watch Payton and Bailey so we could enjoy our nice weekend away. We were really looking forward to a little break from parenthood and a relaxing weekend for just the two of us. We headed out on Friday morning at 7:30. The trip to Asheville was quicker than I imagined and I was so happy to arrive. We had a nice lunch - no goldfish or fig newtons in sight - and then headed to the spa.....aahhhhh! Instant relaxation. Just the smell of that spa sends me to a different world! We enjoyed the spa for the afternoon and Friday, had dinner in downtown Asheville and then enjoyed a night of music at the Grove Park. Saturday we slept late and then headed to the NC Arboretum to do a little hiking. It was a beautiful day and we got a great workout in while enjoying some great mountain scenery. We ended the afternoon in Biltmore Village and with an early dinner at La Paz, one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. Yummy! Once back at the hotel, we didn't leave again! Sunday was a day full of relaxation - we had to take it all in before returning to the real world and back to full-time parenthood! I had a pedicure on Sunday and we enjoyed another day in the Spa. We have decided to make this an "every 3 year" plan. We spent our first anniversary in Asheville and at the spa. It must be a little bit like heaven!
It is a different kind of beautiful than the beauty we see each day here in the lowcountry. They are both beautiful in a very unique way. I am happy to escape to either destination!
Happy Anniversary.......4 years down, a lifetime to go!
The fabulous Grove Park Inn and Spa.....aahhhhhh!
Our last night of relaxation. I was so happy to sit in the rocking chairs outside and watch the sun set behind the mountains.
We had a wonderful trip. Thank you Meme and Pawpaw for keeping Payton and Bailey so we could escape for a few days!
