A weekend wedding in Chapel Hill

After returning home late Tuesday night and working Wednesday and Thursday, we packed up again and headed to Chapel Hill.  You may start to notice a trend for the summer....travel, travel, travel!  We love to see our family and friends but packing up and traveling with the little guy is sometimes exhausting.  This trip was no different.  Our trip to Chapel Hill, combined with rain and dinner in Eutawville, SC, took a short 6 hours instead of the normal 4 hours.  Of course, it was worth it once we arrived.  Eric and Amy were still awake waiting for Payton to arrive.  He didn't care that it was 1:00 am.  In fact, he kept the party going until 2:00 or later.  From the moment we arrived I could tell it was going to be a great weekend.

Eric and Amy were getting married on Saturday May 30th in Chapel Hill.  Eric has been one of my best friends for many years.  We met on the first day of middle school at Tuttle Middle School and our friendship has continued to grow since that time.  Chad and Eric became friends while Eric was a manager at UNC.  Once Chad moved back to Chapel Hill, Eric was involved in Chad and I meeting each other.  So, now he is a best friend to both of us.  We decided to ask Eric to be Payton's godfather and gave Eric the decision of picking Payton's Godmother (he and Amy were pretty serious at the time of course)!  So, this wedding was special to us not only because one of our best friends was getting married but also because Payton was gaining a Godmother!!

Chad, Payton and myself with Amy and Eric at the rehearsal dinner

Payton was only included for the Friday night rehearsal dinner and I was hoping we could make it through that without any major meltdowns.  I was thankful for my parents coming to Chapel Hill on Friday night to keep him.  They actually picked him up around 7:45 from the rehearsal dinner so he didn't cause too many problems!!

Eric and Payton - I think he's smelling his flower!

The rehearsal dinner was great, we had several good toasts after Payton left, and then we all headed to Franklin Street.  It was great to see so many friends over the weekend.

Celebrating on Franklin Street!

I was busy helping with wedding stuff and Chad was playing golf so we did not see Payton at all on Saturday; however, randomly my parents were walking Payton around in the quad Saturday around 1:30.  At the same time, Eric was waiting at the Davie Poplar to see Amy for the first time.  Eric was a bundle of nerves.  It was very ironic for Payton to be there at the same time.  Eric saw Payton across the quad and was able to say a quick hello.  I was very happy to hear that this was a welcome distraction for Eric as he waited for his lovely bride to arrive.

It was great to hear about the wedding and see some pictures since Chad didn't call to tell me about the week-end. I am glad you had such a wonderful time back at your old home! The pictures of the wedding and Payton were great! The little guy is so cute and so much fun to play with! I can hardly wait until next Thursday! We will be able to play with three great kids then!
