Our little 15 month old!

Payton turned 15 months old today.  It is CRAZY to think that 15 months of his little life have already FLOWN by!  So much has changed.  I can't believe that last year at this time I was at home with a 3 month old.  That little 3 month old amazed me each day as well...but know I have to wonder which stage is better.  I love this stage that we are in now.  A growing, changing little boy.  Each day continues to be a new adventure.  Some days are challenging.  Some days are completely rewarding.  Some days bring a nice mixture of the two!  Every day brings a new change - a new word, a new expression, a new attitude, a new like or dislike of food, a new way of doing things, and a new reason to smile!  Every day Payton gives me so many reasons to smile.  Even today, as he threw his food off his highchair I had to smile because I realized he was throwing it to Bailey.  Even with the smile, I quickly disciplined him for this behavior!

What is Payton doing these days?  The question may be better if asked what is Payton NOT doing these days!  He seems like such a little man!

He waves - hello, bye-bye.  He says "Hey" and "Buh Bye" and he (usually) knows how to use them correctly.  Last night at dinner he told our waitress "buh bye" every time she walked away from our table!

He is still FASCINATED with balls - maybe to the point of abnormal for such a small child.  His favorites toy is his bat and ball (thanks Holly!!).  He LOVES to be outside playing with anything but especially his T-ball set.  He finds balls in books and quickly points them out.  He grabs the TV remote, points it at the TV and says "ball." This is his way of asking you to turn the TV to a sporting event or ESPN.  If you don't turn it on, he usually turns the TV on all alone.  Very independent!  He understands that there are a variety of balls - tennis balls, basketballs, baseballs, golf balls, footballs, etc.  Last weekend he sat down at my parents house to watch the US Open as if he were an adult...and as if he completely understood what was unfolding on the TV.

He is still amazed by birds.  He spots a bird so high up in the sky that you can't believe he has actually seen that bird...but he has!  He makes his "shocked" face when he hears a bird chirp.

He says "Ella" as soon as we are turning onto the road the lives on.  He still doesn't have a name for Miss Cindy.

He say "Bai-yee" as soon as we turn into our neighborhood and then a million other times during the day.  He LOVES Bailey.  He now rubs her, kisses her, and grabs her tail.  She deals with him!

He asks for "more" food.  He still calls his sippy cup a "boggle."  Any cup of bottle is also called  a boggle.  When we ask him if he wants to eat chicken he says "bawk-bawk."  Fruit is still his favorite food.

He knows the sounds for a chicken, a cow, a monkey, a lion, a duck ("duck duck"), and a bird.  He knows that a cat is a "kitty."

He says "baby" and most small children (age 5 and lower) are babies, especially if they are in strollers!

He says garage (when he wants to go outside), outside (when he wants to go outside), inside (if he ever gets tired of being outside), door (when he wants to get in the car), upstairs (every time we go up the stairs), keys.

He called my Grandpa "Papaw"

We often tell him "NO," he laughs, and does it again.

He shakes his head yes or no and now says "no" as well.  "No" he doesn't want anymore water, "yes" he wants more yogurt treats.

He dances, he hops, he runs.

He likes to ride his horse and rock in his rocking chair.

He plays with Ella's pink, girly toys and loves them.  He likes to play with her purse and her dolls.  Ella and Payton are now friends and play together rather than just side-by-side.  This may mean an occasional hit between the two as well.

He is stubborn and independent.  He wants to do things without our assistance and he doesn't like it when we tell him no.  He has temper-tantrums on most days.  His tantrums are usually short-lived but do involve beating his head on the floor at least once or twice.

When we ask for a kiss he lowers his head to our lips.  He snuggles at bedtime and has finally started to sit still for bedtime stories.  We put his hands together for prayers and he is catching on.  He loves his "stars" on his bedroom ceiling and turns them on every night before going to sleep.

This morning he woke up with a low-grade fever but still greeted me with a smile and singing - an interesting tune that he must have dreamed up overnight!

There are so many things I am leaving out.  He is so active and loves to explore.  It is such a joy to be his "mom-ma" and help him learn new things each day.  I cherish each little moment with him.  In just 15 quick months he'll be 2 1/2 years old and again I'll be wondering where the time has gone!
