Baby Boy #2

I had my 23 week ultrasound with ECHO to do a complete check of Baby Boy #2's heart. I am happy to report that the ultrasound went well. The doctor did not see any reason for concern. This was only an appointment for the ultrasound so I did not see my regular doctor. I will go back for my next visit on March 12th.

The baby measured 23 weeks exactly.
Heart rate of 136.
The baby measured correctly and weighed a little over a pound.

I am 23 weeks and things are going great. I didn't realize how bad my pregnancy with Payton was until this time around. When people ask how I'm feeling I am often shocked to find myself saying "Great!" because I think I always had some little problem with Payton.

I have gained about 12 pounds. My belly looks HUGE and I often feel like people are shocked to hear that I still have 4 months to go! I have only noticed minimal swelling in my feet after a long day or a day filled with a lot of standing. I have not had any major back pain, leg pain, or sciatic pain (which was a huge problem with Payton). My placenta is implanted on top of the baby (between the baby and my abdomen). This is normal - the placenta can implant anywhere it wants! The result of this is that you can't feel the baby kick or move nearly as much. I started feeling Payton move around 17 weeks. I still only feel occasional kicks and movements from this baby. The movements are finally getting stronger and I can feel a sense of the baby moving around and I can feel him on my bladder but it is much different than my experience with Payton. In another week or two this will not matter and the baby will be moving more and requiring more room so I will fill it no matter! I do have a few more cravings this time....unfortunately my sweet tooth is operating in overdrive at times! I could eat dessert every day! Overall I think I have a lot more energy. I have been fighting a nasty cough and cold for about 2 weeks but otherwise no complaints!

Payton has finally figured out that the baby is in Mommy's belly and he knows that his old room is now the baby's room. We're making good progress. The only problem is that he says he is having a sister. When we ask what he wants to name his brother he says "Sister!"

So glad that you and the baby are doing great! He is a cute looking little fellow! Payton you must think a better name for your brother!
