Owen's Christening Day

On November 7th Owen was baptized at Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church here in Mt. Pleasant, SC.
This was a very special day for Chad and I as we stood before our family, our friends, and our church and made a commitment to raise Owen to know and love God and to help him grow in his faith and relationship with God as we teach and guide him through the years.

Yes, he's wearing a dress!  This was originally my Christening gown.  My Aunt Linda and Uncle Bill bought this gown in Germany and brought it home for me to wear on my Christening day in December of 1981.  My younger cousins - Colan White and Aubrey Burgess also wore this gown.  Payton wore this on his Christening day in August of 2008.  Today it was Owen's turn to wear the family heirloom.
The service was great.  Our church has so many baptisms - sometimes up to 3 on each Sunday.  Our pastor did a great job to personalize the service and make it meaningful for our family.   Owen did great during the service and fell asleep towards the end.
Proud Papa, Glowing Mama and one sleeping beauty :)
Laura, Andrew and baby Charlie joined us for the celebration.

The family!  My parents, Chad's parents, and Chad's sister and her family made the 4 hour trip to join us for our special day.

 A dress and a hat!
My sweet baby boy....this is the only time I'll ever dress you like a girl...I promise!  You did look so precious.

After the baptism, we went to RB's at Shem Creek for lunch.  They have a great view of the water and boats coming in and out of Shem Creek.  Other than Payton vomiting in his plate at lunch, spiking a fever, and scaring Mommy a little, we had a great family lunch.  It just wouldn't be the same without a little drama!  I'm just thankful Payton's illness did not hit an hour earlier - and episode of vomiting at the front of the church would have been much more humiliating!

We love any excuse for a cake!  Sweetsmith bakery did a great job...very tasty!

Thanks for making my special day so great!
