Dave!

Adult night!

Mom and Dad had a great night away from the kids on Wednesday November 17th.  We went with our friends Charlotte and Liston (Lila's mom and dad) to see the Dave Matthews Band.  It was short lived but it was nice to have a little free time without the kiddos!

Payton and Owen were safe at home with a new sitter who also works at Payton's school.  Funny story...at this point, Payton has added two new things to his bed time routine.  We sing "Jesus Loves Me" and we had also started saying the Lord's Prayer in addition to his typical bed time prayer.  I didn't mention these specifics to her...I just said he would want to sing a few songs.  I was most concerned with how Payton would do at bedtime for his new sitter.  He is so routine and so independent.  I worried that if she did one tiny thing wrong or out of order he would have a meltdown.  When we arrived back home I immediately asked how he did at bed time.  Well, she said they had a little problem.  Of course I thought he had been terrible for her!  But, she just cocked her head to the side and said to me, "I'm Jewish."  It took no more explaining...and of course we all started laughing.  She quickly explained to us that since she is Jewish, she did not know Jesus Loves Me or the Lord's Prayer.  She attempted to do her best but Payton got mad when she didn't know all the words!

Chad and I had a good laugh after she left that night!  A problem with singing Jesus Loves Me had never crossed our minds!  We are just happy that Payton has already started learning a lot of church songs and prayers of his own and with or without us by his side, he still sticks to saying those each night!  If we have her babysit for us in the future we'll make sure she has a copy of the words....although, Payton has already memorized both and has already added a few new songs to his repertoire!
