Dear Santa,
My name is Payton Webb. I was good and bad. For Christmas I wish for a drum set and sticks for the drums and a microphone (a little one), a super hero toy and costume. My brother Owen Webb wants a little microphone, an airplane and a big truck. Also, I would like a toy basketball court. Bailey, my dog, she wants a basketball. I would also like a rockstar jacket with a star on it.
Thank you Santa and Blitzen. Bye Santa!
Love,
Payton Webb
This isn't too far off his original list. While we were at the beach with my parents in early November, we started to ask Payton for a few things he might want for Christmas. We tried to explain that Grandma and Grandpa, Meme and Pawpaw, Mommy and Daddy, Aunt Chandra, and Santa would probably need a few ideas of what he might like for Christmas. He had already flipped through the Toys R Us "Big Toy Book" and picked at least one thing from each page...unless it was something we already had at home and he helped pick a few things he thought Owen would like. He actually did a pretty good job and picked things that matched his interest and age...except for the remote controlled helicopter!!
So, while eating lunch at the beach, we drafted his 1st list....I saved it because it was truly priceless.
1) Dean Dome
2) Locker Room
3) Roof and Lights
4) Rameses Pillow Pet
5) Bicycle - Carolina Blue
6) Drum set and sticks
7) Clock
8) Baseball Uniform
Just to clarify, by Dean Dome, he literally meant a building similar to the Dean Smith Center in our yard. He explained that we would need a construction crew, a ladder, 2 goals, benches for him, seats for the fans, a shot clock, a score board with a buzzer and locker rooms. We explained that this
In an attempt to get a few items that Santa might have more luck with, we continued to push him for a few more ideas and we able to get #4 - #8. He stills wants a bicycle but after spotting the Spiderman bicycle in Walmart he quickly decided THAT was the ONE he wanted. He needs a new bike as he has out grown his toddler bike so this is the perfect gift as far as Mom and Dad are concerned!
As you can see in his letter to Santa, the drum set is still a priority....great!
The clock....literally, the kid wants an alarm clock for his room....he loves them!
Finally, the baseball uniform.....he's got a football uniform, basketball uniform, baseball hat and baseball gloves...but, no uniform. Naturally, he needs a uniform to practice in (yes, here at home). The kid is hilarious!
I am MOST proud that last night, when I asked him if he knew why we celebrated Christmas he also answered without hesitation to let me know we were celebrating Jesus' birthday. Thank you Ms. Brooke and Ms. Charlotte...he gave you both credit for that one! He's also starting to remember the nativity sets and has talked about the 3 wise men.
He loves all the Christmas music and yells when he hears and "church" music to let us know we sing that one in church! We're especially grateful to Turner, the leader of our new service, for making a CD of the advent music. Our budding muscian LOVES it and we may wear it out before next Sunday!
As for sweet baby Owen, he's picked right up on Christmas too! He quickly identifies Santa as Ho Ho and spots our resident elf, Clyde, every morning....most times beating Payton and yelling "Clyy, Clyy!" As for the nativity sets, he loves the baby and exclaims "Ba-bee, Ba-bee." He is already loves the sights of Christmas and loudly tells us when he spots lights going down the road as well.
I say this each year, but this Christmas is definitely going to be the best yet! Two boys, enjoying every little minute......love, love, love it....and, this year, I'm certainly taking time to cherish each of these minutes because days like these don't last forever!!!!
