Sawyer is ONE!

Sawyer enjoyed his dairy free birthday cake

Our sweet baby is ONE!  It is so hard for me to believe that this past year has come and gone so quickly.  We had a wonderful day (weekend!) celebrating Sawyer's first birthday.  On Saturday, we had many of our family members join us at the lake for a fantastic day!  We had perfect weather, lots of food, and tons of fun!

It was great to have every one there for a long day on the lake.  We enjoyed BBQ and way too many sides (Chad and I will be eating potato salad for the rest of the week!)!  After lunch, many people were able to enjoy the water - lots of splashing, jumping, tubing, and riding though out the day.  The kids especially loved it!  By the end of the day, nearly everyone had been out of the boat and my little cousins were jumping off the top dock.  A few people even had tears when it was time to leave!

We enjoyed cake and presents in between the water activities. I was very happy with the way Sawyer's store bought cake turned out (for once, I admitted I was just way too busy and stressed to attempt to bake it myself).  Sawyer's small cake came from Wh@lef@@ds.  It's a vegan cake so it contains no dairy products and was safe for him to eat.  It was actually pretty tasty.  He enjoyed it....he had cake from head to toe by the end!

He got some wonderful presents - the perfect amount of toys and clothes.  Most of our kid toys have been in storage since moving so it will be nice for Sawyer to have a few new toddler toys to enjoy. He got several adorable outfits, a chair for our new house, a few balls and some great new pajamas!

This is the picture that was used on Sawyer's invitation.  We made it in the river bottoms below Chad's grandmother's house.  I love this little picture of my little man!

Sawyer is a bubbly one year old - he is still a calm, easy baby most of the time.  He wakes up around 5:30 or 6:00 and goes to bed around 8:30.  I am still breastfeeding in the morning and at bedtime.  We have transitioned to one bottle with formula during the day - this is to make sure he gets enough healthy calories since he can't drink whole milk.  He is still drinking from a bottle because he's not a big fan of the sippy cup and the nutritionist said the calories (and brain development) were more crucial than changing to a sippy cup.  He gets coconut milk 2 or 3 times per day in the sippy cup.

Sawyer LOVES most fruits and vegetables.  His favorites are watermelon, cantaloupe, banana, tomato, strawberries and corn.  You are finally eating Cheeri@s and Teddy Gr@hams.

His 12 month visit is still a few weeks away, but I think he weighs about 21 pounds.

He is a chatty little guy...but, I must admit, Mama and Dada are not his favorite words. He can say Mama and Dada but he often just cries when he wants one of us.

His favorite words are Ball and Bailey.  He likes to "woof woof" like Bailey too.  He says Pawpaw often.  He has a word/sound for both Payton and Owen.  He says light ("eee") while pointing up.  He's also got bird, boat (boa) and bottle.

Sawyer,

You are sweet and snuggly.  I love you more and more every single day and, I've said it before, but it's worth repeating, you are the calm in my storm.  You keep me sane when my world is in constant chaos.  You keep me grounded.  Most of all, you remind me how blessed we are and you remind me to thank God for you and your brothers every single day.  I love you and your brothers with my whole heart - it amazes me how much my heart continues to expand and grow!  I am amazed that you are already one - I have definitely treated you more like a baby and slowed you down as much as possible - and, I'm fine with it.  I cherish each of those extra snuggles and early morning feeds.  I can't wait to see how much you change and grow over the next year.  I hope your personality stays calm and laid back like it is now (maybe like Grandpa...although, I've never seen Grandpa bump his head on the floor when he gets mad!).  I hope your eyes stay blue.  I hope you continue to be my calm one!  I love you with all that I have and I truly thank God for you more and more each day!  Happy 1st Birthday to my sweet third boy!

- Love,
Mommy   xoxo
