Payton's First....

Look at him...palming the ball already! As you can see, he's already a multisport athlete as well!
The past few days have brought along several things that Payton has done for the first time.
Friday, Payton had his second flu shot. In the first year, a baby has to have 2 doses. He did great! He weighed in at 18 lb 8 oz. I feel better with our new feeding plan knowing that he has gained a pound over the past 4 weeks. After our quick trip to Cooper River Pediatrics, we made our first trip to Stride Rite shoe store in Mount Pleasant. I was originally in search of a new pair of brown Robeez for the fall but after talking to the sales associate I realized Payton needed a pair of good, sturdy shoes. We bought his first pair of hard sole shoes - an adorable brown pair with velco straps. These will be great for him to pull up in and eventually learn to walk.

Our wonderful friend Andrew works for the College of Charleston Athletic Department. Thanks to Andrew, Payton was able to enjoy his first live basketball game. The College of Charleston opened their brand new arena Friday with an ESPN tournament and we were able to see the College of Charleston vs. SIU Edwardsville and Clemson vs. Hofstra. Payton loved all the excitement, people and noise. He did fall asleep once Clemson started. The Tigers were not exciting enough for him!! We left at halftime of the Clemson game. We hate his first game wasn't in the Smith Center but we were happy to have a little live college basketball in our lives! He will see the Tarheels soon enough!

We had too many activities today. Payton wore his UNC football jersey for the day. His main concern was which sporting event to watch....football or basketball??

Payton enjoyed his first UNC basketball game of the season. Unfortunately, Payton was born just in time to see the last few games of the season this year. He was happy to see the Heels win and is now OK with the clothes we so often use to dress him. As Lindsey pointed out tonight, everything we own is Carolina blue - including the stroller and baby wipe case. While watching the game, Payton had his first taste of meat - Gerber's Chicken and Apples. He gobbled it right up!

Many of you will be shocked to know that we left home (and any source of television) and headed to an oyster roast at halftime of the basketball game and before the half of the football game. We taped the game and had score updates on our cellphones of course! We went with Matt, Lindsey and Ella to the Sullivan's Island Fire & Rescue annual Oyster Roast. This was Payton's first Oyster Roast. Once again, the oysters were great! Payton loved all the sights and sounds. No oysters for the little guy yet! We kept him out late and off his routine for two nights in a row. He was a little trooper! Maybe he'll sleep in a little in the morning! We will be busy tomorrow attempting to plan for our upcoming trip to Maui. We are looking forward to seeing family, friends, and the Heels play in the Maui Invitational. We are not looking forward to leaving Payton behind for the week! Hopefully Mommy will be able to handle the separation!
