Drum roll please.........

The final result is even better than I had imagined.  We used DIG Landscaping to help plan the landscaping for our front yard.  We had lots of discussions and worried over what would be best.  We debated on doing parts on our own but ended up letting them do the installation.  I went to work on the morning of Thursday, May 26th with just a yard full of sod.....and when I made my way home, I was pleasantly surprised to find this:
The view from the front...as if you were driving by.

The bed on the right side of the front yard.  It now has 3 crepe myrtles, African iris, white lantana, dwarf japanese yew, and loropetalium.  The African iris will be evergreen with a light purple bloom in the spring.  The loropetalium will be green to burgundy in color.  The dwarf japanese yew is also an evergreen with various deep green colors in the foliage.
Two new palm trees - directly across the drive from our two existing palms.  These are surrounded by liripe.

The biggest change is against the house.  They completely removed four overgrown, terribly ugly shrubs and replaced them with a flowering plum tree and four evergreen shrubs.  The tree has burgundy leaves and it looks great against our mustard yellow house.

A view of the smaller bed, to the left side of the yard.  It has the same flowers/shrubs but is about 1/3rd the size of the bed to the right.

The view from our porch:

Of course, I have to share a garden update as well.  My container gardens are growing like crazy!  We have veggies growing on each vine and we have already had tomatoes and a green pepper.  I'll be using more over the weekend!

Just perfect for a 'mater sandwich!

Owen seems to really like all the changes too!

High Five.....he says "Fi!"

I have never been more excited about a well manicured lawn!  I'm sure we'll spend lots of afternoon sitting on our front porch watching the boys play and admiring our nice, new grass.  We have purchased a new lawnmower to care for our new grass and our newly growing grass in the back and sides.  The areas where we planted seed and spread mushroom compost is growing too! Our biggest problem is the lack of rain.  In the earliest post I noted that our sod was delivered and installed on March 19th.....we haven't had ANY rain since that date.  Thank goodness we had a well installed.  We have been watering twice daily with well water and luckily everything is still doing great.  We would love a nice soaking rain!

We hope you have enjoyed our yard makeover via pictures!  It really looks great in person!
