Our new sod was finally installed on Thursday May 19th. We had been waiting a LONG time (and had been getting a LOT of strange looks and questions for neighbors as they passed by).
A few of our favorite questions:
1) Do you know what is doing that to your yard? (While Chad was spraying with Round-up for the 2nd time to kill the grass) His answer, "Yes, Round-Up."
2) After the sod was placed, but prior to landscaping: Are you putting in a putting green? Ummm....no!
The sod installation:
With a very excited 3 year old supervisor looking on!
The first afternoon with our new sod....and, as you can see, the well is being put to good use!
Sod was placed in the small area between the drive and the house.
My most favorite grass! Now.....grow, grow, grow and stay green, green, green!
An empty bed, waiting on new flowers!
The area just behind Chad's car had sod placed as well. Unfortunately, we had 5 palettes of sod placed....and we needed about 5.1 palettes. We were short by just a few pieces and this was left out at the bottom of the stairs (we knew this was likely to happen). So, after paying a very experienced grow to lay sod in the front yard, we had to buy 20 more pieces on Friday and lay them on our own. I'm happy to report we did a great job. I'm not looking for any side jobs right now but if anyone needs any sod installation tips, I'll be happy to help. I feel very well educated in the sod installation business these days!
These days, we're just watering and watching it grow. I've seen Chad rolling around in our new grass a few times.....oh, that's supposed to be a secret...it just looks so good I can't keep him out of it!
