Well, looks like I missed a few days in my lenten blogging journey. What can I say? We've been busy and the blog (as always) is at the very end of my to-do list. While it felt great to stay completely up-to-date for most of the past 40ish days I must admit I just couldn't get it in the past few days.
I would say that our house guests and our Easter plans mostly contributed to my absence. We had house guests for the past three weekends and for part of the past three weeks. Don't get me wrong - I LOVE having people at our house and I love to entertain...but, add in working, kids and Chad traveling and the blog was finally the first thing to go. Funny thing is, the lack of blogging occurred when I actually had 2 full days off of work and 2 full kid free nights. I guess I just had other priorities.....like catching up on lost sleep!
Where has the month of March gone? March was a busy month and I hate to see it go....Payton turned 4. We visited with lots of family members. We started spending more time outdoors with longer days. It was a great month.
I am happy to see April weather roll in....it has been perfect and the spring flowers are just perfect. Dogwoods and azaleas are a few of my favorites and they are in full bloom!
We are celebrating Easter with family and had a fun filled Good Friday. We dyed Easter eggs, played with family, visited a dairy farm, had a great dinner and got to visit with Austin who is unfortunately in the hospital. Tomorrow will be another full day as we have a full day planned with friends and family.
As far as my other lenten "plans" I would give myself an A-
I accidentally ate sweet potato fries last weekend....which would count as a fried food. I've also had chips a few times this week. I have stayed away from regular fries and fried chicken (including Chick fil a). I can honestly say I haven't really missed those things and I'm hopeful I can limit them in my diet overall.
I have to say that I am extremely proud of Chad - he elected to give up red meat and minus a few accidental items, he's done great. He has passed on steaks, hamburgers, etc when it would have been really easy to give in!
I also did not get rid of one bag per day, but overall I've been more aware of throwing things away that are trash (or just plain junk) instead of letting them collect on the counter or floor or closet.
Bible studies have continued...I could do better, but I did do a good job.
The Easter Bunny is bringing both boys new Bible Story books. Payton has his memorized so Chad and I are excited to add a new one to the routine. Owen has a few "baby" bible story books but we found a new one that may hold his attention a little longer.
I hope each of you can reflect back on the season of lent and see some ways in which your life has changed as you prepared for Easter Sunday. Enjoy the egg hunts, Sunrise service and all of your Easter Sunday plans. We will surely have a great day!
