Time flies when you're having fun.
It also flies when you decide to have a baby, move to another state, enroll your kids in new schools, move....before you house actually sells...get your oldest immediately registered for a basketball team, attend UNC sporting events, attend high school sporting events, attend middle school sporting events (you get it, right?)....wash dishes by hand, wash bottles by hand, decrease the size of you washer by 1/2 but add the amount of laundry needing to be washed by 1/5, breastfeed, breastfeed, breastfeed, wait in car pool line, wait in car pool line, wait in car pool line with a screaming baby who needs to be breastfed and a 3 year old who needs to pee....right NOW!
You get it, don't you?
We are all busy. Life is busy, kids are busy....but oh.so.worth.every.little.minute!
This chapter of my life is flying by so fast that I probably won't have much time to document it...or remember it...or for that matter, enjoy it...which is what I am most afraid of at this point.
Moving is fine. Having a baby is fine. Moving and having a baby are a bit much....not the stress of the situation, I'm doing fine with that...but, the stress of being so scattered that I'm not able to just sit and enjoy my baby.
Adding a third child really isn't that much more stressful....but, when you add the bottles, pumping parts, clothes, baby stuff, etc in a "new" home....it just adds more chaos. We are surviving, but still adjusting. Or, I am anyway. The kids are fine and Sawyer, well, he just eats, sleeps, poops....poops on his clothes....drools, coo's and smiles. It's Mommy that feels like she need 36 hours in a day!
And....about Christmas....let's just add one more thing to the "To Do" list.....To Do....buy presents for everyone, while only about 3 people actually need anything at all. To Do...tell people what to buy your kids, who also actually need nothing at all.
Run down of the past few weeks.....
For Christmas:
Payton wants - UNC Basketball shorts (his old ones are too small), toothbrush, mouthwash, ski gear, and a Scooby Doo game
Owen wants - ski gear, ski boots, ski gloves
Sawyer turned 3 months old....he is still huge! If I had to guess, I would say he weighs at least 16 pounds. He easily wears 6 month clothes. He is adorable and easy and low key and laid back...unless he poops, then he gets mad and demands to be changed! I continue to be amazed at the amount of love one person can have...and how it just continues to expand for a third child. I am so in love with those sweet chubby cheeks and that slobbery grin.
We have enjoyed trips to the NC mountains to pick our tree and we have enjoyed the smell of our live tree.
We have tried a new church and been 3 times...good so far, but we will try a few others eventually. I can say that moving during the Christmas season and being away from "my" church during Christmas is probably the most upsetting part of all. Payton is the perfect age to be in a Christmas program, but he is not able to participate in one this year because we are in transition. Simply being away from our own friends reading scripture, lighting the advent candles, our own children singing and our own church decorated for Christmas is just a lot to take in at once. The church we have attended is great...but, each time we pass the peace and great our neighbors, I get great big tears in my eyes...I know we will eventually have a new church family and new church friends, but right now, most of all, I miss my own church family and my own church friends....every single one of you....even those of you in the congregation who maybe even used to drive me a wee bit crazy!
We are enjoying Christmas books, Christmas songs, teaching the Christmas story, advent calenders, and our advent wreath...and, our elf, Clyde. We have had lots of fun with Clyde this year and he has been able to help us teach the boys about bad behavior. We have been to Tanglewood to see the lights...twice, we saw Santa tonight...he was awesome! The kids loved seeing him this year.
We have enjoyed traveling to Chapel Hill for football and basketball and have been able to see some of our best friends.
We have been able to see both KK and Carson play basketball.
We have seen our first snow flakes...and have had two different 2 hour delays!
Payton had his first basketball game - and he did great - he LOVED it - he even told Clyde, our elf, how he played. Both sets of grandparents were able to see him play!
I've been shopping with my Mom twice...but still need about two more days of shopping to get finished with that Christmas list...see above!
Adding a third kid, in the midst of moving, might be three times as stressful but it's also three sets of smiles, three sets of laughs, and three sets of hugs.
We have made it three months sweet baby Sawyer.....and each day gets better! On to tomorrow, let's see what this one will hold!
