This week we had to say goodbye to Chad's great aunt, Aunt Evelyn. Evelyn was Poppy's older sister.
She was indeed a wonderful lady and I enjoyed the time I was able to spend with her. She lived to be 92 years old and despite dealing with declining health over the last year, her mind remained clear and she loved to share her stories and wisdom! She will be missed!
Christmas 2008
We had Christmas lunch with Aunt Evelyn this past year. I am so grateful we took a small part of our busy day to share that meal and family time with her. We had a wonderful time celebrating Christmas with her and listening to her tell a little family history. It is a Christmas Day memory that I will never forget.

Payton was very fond of Aunt Evelyn and enjoyed visiting with her when we were in East Bend. As he has started saying his night time prayers we have given him time to tell us who he wanted to pray for. Although he had not seen Aunt Evelyn since Christmas Day he would often add her to his daily prayer list. It was very moving when Payton asked to pray for her on the same day that she was moved into a nursing facility - he had no idea how much she truly needed those prayers on that day!
Chad traveled to East Bend for the funeral without us. Unfortunately, I could not get off of work to go to the services and I hate that I missed formally saying goodbye to such an amazing person. I know Payton will not remember his Nannie Evelyn or Poppy (although he does know who they are in pictures) and I doubt that he will remember Aunt Evelyn. If he could inherit anything from her, I wish him her longevity, her strong faith, and her wisdom.
