Yes, we have another ear infection! Payton ran a very low grade fever off and on over the weekend. He never acted sick. In fact, he was a pretty good boy over the weekend and had plenty of energy. Friday and Saturday night were busy days with back to back events at church and other than the typical toddler runny nose he never seemed sick. Sunday and Monday he was completely fine. He played at church, played with Ella, and went to school on Monday. He had a great day at school - for the first time in months he didn't even cry when Chad dropped him off. Not at all the picture of a sick kid. Monday night he was a little fussy and had a fever in the middle of the night. Given his history of ear infections we agreed it would be best to take him to see Dr. L just in case. Chad took him to the doctor where he continued to run around wild - they probably thought we were crazy at first. Dr. L. quickly realized that Payton had bilateral ear infections - so, not just one ear, but now both ears were infected again! Antibiotics again! We made a quick call to MUSC ENT to see if we could get Payton's surgery bumped up for his ear tubes. Fortunately Dr. White is able to move Payton's surgery up to Monday, March 8th. I am still shocked that he has another ear infection but I am relieved to have a better little more proof that the ear tubes are definitely the right decision.
We'll head to MUSC early on Monday morning for this procedure. Once again, I will get to experience the MUSC system from the other side - as a nervous Mommy anxious about a very simple, routine procedure. It is a 15 - 20 minute procedure and I have complete confidence in Dr. White. I hope we can make until Monday without any more serious ear problems. I hope he continues to act like a normal little boy without any fevers! Please keep us in your prayers as we get through this week and prepare for Monday!
