As many of you know, we are crazy, and we have headed to Disney World for our first official family vacation. We were planning to do this alone but at the last minute we convinced Chad's parents to meet us in Orlando for a few days. We are so happy they were able to come and will be able to help! Surely 4 adults can handle a 2 1/2 year old and a 2 month old....right?? We shall see!
I may or may not blog daily on our trip....but I hope to! I would love to capture the little details and have them here to remember for the future!
So....here is how our 1st day went!
We hoped to leave at 6:00 am - which meant waking up at 5:00 - which we had decided when going to bed after midnight. Needless to say, when my alarm went off at 5:00....I hit snooze a few times. Finally up and out of the bed at 5:50 am.
7:00 - Payton wakes up, Mommy is feeding Owen
7:36 - HIT THE ROAD! Navigation is set and we are on the way! Our estimated driving time is 6 hr 32 min.
9:00 ish - first Potty break, Owen is still snoozing.
10:30 - First Movie, Cars - Payton has not fussed at all so far!
12:00 - We finally find a spot to eat in Jacksonville, we picked a bad exit and had to eat at a Ruby Tuesdays that was inside a malll, with a wait. It all worked out, I had time to feed Owen.
1:25 - Finished with lunch, ready to hit the road....but we had a MAJOR POOP EXPLOSION from Owen - What a disaster!
1:50 - Finally back on the road (two hours for lunch was not quick, but everyone was happy!). Owen was even able to go back to sleep.
2:15 - Movie #2, Stuart Little
4:30 - We have arrived and are getting settled in our room. We made it all the way with NO major meltdowns or crying! Success!
Payton runs MAD through the room to burn all that energy! At 6:00 we headed out to do a little exploring around the resort. We are impressed. The pools are nice, the grounds are nice, the room is spacious. There is a shuttle boat from one area to another and we already let Payton ride it.....so, of course, that is now "his" blue boat. We hit up the playgrounds, the basketball court, and his favorite....the putt putt area complete with flags in each hole!!
7:30 - Pizza ordered for dinner
9:50 - Payton is asleep, Owen is asleep, Chad is going to pick Meme and Pawpaw up from the airport. Mommy is trying to get a few things organized!
Tomorrow we are planning to go to Epcot around 10 am. We are debating how to handle the "naptime." He did not take one at all today but he was pretty fussy by the end of the day. I'm so anxious to see how it will go. I'm very excited but I don't know what to expect. What will he love? What will excite him? Will he really be so excited to see Mickey and Buzz and Tow-Mater or will he be scared? What will make him smile the most? What will he ask to do or see again? What will he convince us to buy for him? What will melt my heart and what will be my favorite part of the day? I hope I haven't built up my expectations. I just want to take it as it comes - and try to relax and enjoy our family vacation - which it difficult at Disney World. The only thing I ask is that we escape without any major tantrums while in the parks....that will be my prayer for the evening!!
As for tomorrow, its off to Epcot we go! I'll be anxious to let you know how it goes!
