Sweet Baby Owen,

I can't believe that you have sailed right through your 3rd month and are rapidly approaching the 4 month mark.  It is all going by way too fast!  I find that the "second child syndrome" holds so true....I can't help but compare you to Payton and unfortunately, I just don't have the same amount of extra time to take pictures and document all the little things.  Hopefully, in the end, this won't affect you in a negative way...I'm doing my best baby boy!

I can't begin to describe how much I love you!  Prior to giving birth to you, your daddy and I wondered how we could ever love something else as much as we already loved Payton.  From the moment I met you, I knew that I could, and most definitely would, love you just as much as your big brother.  Over the past 3 short months this love has continued to grow and my heart just explodes every day when I think of how much I love you and your brother.  As you know, I have gone back to work but there are days that I would rather just stay home and look at you all day long!

You are the happiest baby...and, comparing you to Payton, we thought Payton was the happiest baby ever and that we could never be lucky enough to have another baby who was as good.  I think you might be better!  You have been smiling, coo-ing and babbling for weeks.  When you smile, you smile BIG.  When you coo, you coo LOUD!  You only cry when you have a dirty diaper or if you are hungry.

You drool....so much!  I keep thinking I might find a little tooth in your mouth but there are no signs of one just yet.

You have finally outgrown one outfit - a zipper, footed sleeper.  Otherwise, you will still fit very nicely into all your clothes.  You seem so tiny to me but I know you are growing each day.  I compared you to one of my patients at work - you are only 5 days older than her but she is only in the 3rd % for her weight...I hope that you are much bigger than that at your 4 month well check. Your head seems tiny too!  I think your halloween costume will swallow you!

You have started sitting in your Bumbo seat and last night you tried out your exersaucer for the 1st time. You just smiled!  You still like your swing for about 30 minutes at a time.  

You still love to eat...every 3 - 4 hours like clockwork!  You do a good job sleeping at night but you like to wake up around 3:00.  I don't have to feed you....but I do have to snuggle with you.  In some ways, I hate this but in others, I love this.  I know that this stage will be over in the blink of an eye and I love feeling your little, warm body snuggled up against me.  I know I will have to break this habit and I know we will probably have to work on that in the near future.  You love your pacifier.  Love it!

Again, I'm wishing I had a pause button....or if I could just add one extra day per week to do nothing but spend time with you and Payton.  I can't believe that you are moving out of the newborn phase so quickly.  In just a few short weeks you will be eating baby food and starting to sit up.  Where does the time go??

You love your big brother - he makes you smile and you follow him all around the room.  You are already growing very fond of Bailey as well!

Most importantly, I'm still doing everything in my power to ensure that you are a "momma's boy" - unlike your big brother!
