To say that Owen enjoyed his birthday cake is an understatement! It did take him a few minutes to understand what it was and what exactly he was supposed to do with the mound of cake and icing that had been placed in front of him. After a little instruction from big brother Payton, he had a better understanding and dug right in....and loved it!
After Owen showed little interest in his cake, Payton decided to show him exactly what he was supposed to do. Payton used a spoon to give Owen his first taste. At first, Owen liked the idea of keeping his hands clean and continued to let Payton spoon feed him!
I love Payton opening his mouth as he feeds Owen bite after bite.
The crowd looks on as Owen finally takes over and starts eating his cake with his fingers. He picked off bite after bite of the red dots of icing at first.
Eventually, he dug right in.....bite after bite after bite.
One shot with the birthday hat - as expected, he hated his hat and it didn't stay on for very long.
He had so much cake and icing that I eventually had to take it away from him (of course, this followed his adult portion of BBQ and baked beans!). We were all worried he was going to have major stomach issues but he never did! He was so mad when we took the cake away from him but clearly, everyone has their limits.

The rain was finally finished, Owen was cleaned up after his cake and he was ready to visit and play!

The birthday party continue well past dark. We had a great time with so many of our family members and again, are very appreciative of all Chandra and Allen did to prepare their home for the party. Despite the downpour, it was a perfect party and a perfect day.
Happy Birthday Owen!
