Happy Father's Day

Rewind a few weeks.....after Owen's big 1st birthday bash, we headed from East Bend to Sherrills Ford for one night.  After having lunch and seeing Calyn play basketball, we were able to celebrate the second half of Father's Day with my dad at my parent's house.

Chad enjoying Father's Day with his two best buds!
He got a great Father's Day present this year - a nice yard cart, trimmers for the shrubs and a few paper yard waste bags.  Just what he had always wanted!  Want it or not, the yard cart has already been put to good use!

My dad got a really nice grill set and grill cover to go with his new grill (actually a Christmas present, but he just picked it out a few weeks ago!).

Father's Day dinner was a real treat - a low country boil with shrimp, sausage, potatoes, and corn....yummy!

Owen enjoyed playing with this old toy of mine.
My grandpa, who loved trains, gave me this train for my 1st birthday (29 years ago) and Owen loved walking behind it through my parents house.

One of the boys favorite toys at my parents are these old stacking cups.  Payton loves to stack them up...

...Owen loves to knock them down!  He thinks it is so funny!

One of the best parts of Father's Day is that my dad and I usually get to share a little of the celebration!  This year, my Mom and Dad had me a WONDERFUL chocolate birthday cake for my 30th birthday.
It was delicious!

On Monday, I helped my mom with a few things at my Papaw Joe's house.  It is tough, but we have started the process of cleaning up and cleaning out his house.  My parents have found someone to rent his house in the next few months.  It is both happy and sad to go through my grandparents home.  Happy to remember some of the wonderful memories but so sad to know they are all behind us now.  I will have a few things in my home that will remind me of them.  I know as the "moving day" gets closer it will be even more difficult to say goodbye to some of their belongings and their house.  It wasn't exactly the best way to spend a day, but I am happy I was able to help my mom a little and hate I'm not there to help out as much as I would like.

On Monday afternoon, Chad and I headed home - we had to work on Tuesday and Wednesday but we had a kid-free weekend planned starting on Thursday.  The boys stayed with my parents in Sherrills Ford until Wednesday morning.  Payton was able to go to a Bee Meeting with my dad and they were able to play with Connor and Noah.  On Wednesday they went back to East Bend and had a few great days with Chad's family.  Payton and Owen were even able to celebrate Austin's 94th birthday with him!  They do love their days in the country and we love for them to be able to spend quality time with all of our family members.

To all the Dad's in our lives and to those who are no longer here with us - Thank you for all you have done for us.  Thank you for helping mold us into the people we have each become today.  We hope our children will have wonderful memories of all the great men in their lives - uncles, grandfathers, godfathers, and adopted "uncles."  Life wouldn't be a great without each of you!

Happy Father's Day!
