Again, these posts are a little out of order...by about 4 months or so...
I have posted about Payton turning five and have posted pictures from his Cougars baseball birthday party. These pictures are from the day that his original party was scheduled.
We had family in town....all of them...Grandma and Grandpa, Meme and Pawpaw, Chandra, Allen, Calyn, and Carson. On Thursday night, Meme got sick. On Friday, Payton had t-ball practice and started to seem sick. On Friday night, we went to dinner at Page's Okra Grill....and it all went down hill at dinner. We made quick exit after a little incident at the table...poor kid, poor waitress...it was bad.
We knew immediately that the party the next day would have to be postponed.
Due to fear of the bug, Chandra and Allen thought it best to keep a safe distance and not enter the house. They didn't actually keep their distance, but lucky for them, they did not get sick. At least it was a nice day...and really, better to be outside with the bug than inside. Water hose made for easy clean-up.
Payton was thrilled with his birthday presents from Allen, Chandra, KK and Carson...and, since this post is late, I can promise these have had lots of use!
Batting helmet and bat bag..perfect for big boy baseball!
In this picture, he doesn't look too sick...
Enjoying a visit from KK and Carson....just not exactly how we had hoped to enjoy their time with us!
Mommy spent lots of time in the kitchen getting ready for this party. I made his baseball cake just like he wanted. Too bad this was never even sliced!
I never assembled, but the ball was supposed to go in the top left corner. The sheet cake was supposed to be the field.
Smiles from both...but, they are both really sick...and didn't even ask for cake.
Oh, well this one did.
A picture with his cake...from a safe distance!
Poor buddy...asleep in the chair...no way to spend your birthday party day!
Meme and Pawpaw hit the road in an attempt to make it home.
Chandra and Allen followed shortly.
Grandma and Grandpa braved the sick house...and thank goodness they did. Our day was full of lots of sick episodes and one late night run to urgent care.
Payton did perk up enough to open his presents from Grandma and Grandpa.
He was especially excited to find this big boy basketball!
...while little brother looked on....clearly not feeling good at all!
Like all bugs, this one came and went. On top of the birthday party, the kids missed school for an entire week! Mom and Dad never got it...thank goodness!
As you can see in other posts, we were able to move the party to a later date and celebrate when everyone was feeling a little better.
