Prayer hands

I have started using Pinterest...and, I'm loving it!  I have found so many wonderful ideas and continue to pin away!  I have no idea when I'll actually get around to making any of these items but, hey, a girl can dream!  I've got various categories that I'm collecting pins for - from party ideas to holidays to good looking recipes and preschool teaching ideas to use with the kids!  I have noticed several friends on facebook sharing some of their Pinterest success with new DIY projects and they have inspired me....one day soon I'll get around to making a few items too!

For today, I wanted to share this awesome prayer tool I found on Pinterest, originally pinned from www.mardel.com - you can find it here.

I love this easy to use "chart" to help Payton and Owen learn to be more "creative" with their daily prayers.  Payton is very good with his routine prayers at mealtime and bedtime.  For now, these prayers have been the same prayer time and time again (most of the time).   He always wants to pray for others at bedtime but he just lists their names and if it is a special prayer he usually asks one of us to say that prayer before he begins his nighttime prayer.

Payton's current bedtime prayer is:
Dear God,
Bless the people that I love,
keep them safe from up above.
Bless me as I fall asleep,
on my pillow soft and deep.
Amen.

This prayer chart will be a great help!  We can teach Payton to pray about his own sins, thank god for specific things in his life, pray for others, and pray for him.  We have already started using this with Payton this week and I look forward to seeing his prayers habits change.  For now, Owen just chimes in with "AMEN!" Hopefully he'll start to pick up on some of these great habits as he develops his own prayer routine too!

So, as for day # 2 of my lenten journey - no fried foods (and no temptations); another bag of trash GONE, blog....check!  Proverbs 2 will be tackled prior to bed.
