East Bend for the weekend

On Friday, Chad, Payton and I travled to East Bend, NC to spend the weekend with Chad's family. It was a busy day prior to getting on the road.  On Friday, Chad and I started with our new workout schedule - which includes starting around 6 a.m. and swapping Payton off in the middle!  Chad then rushed off to the vet with Bailey who has another ear infection.  I rushed off the see Dr. Linker with Payton.  This was a check-up for Payton's nasty cough and fluid in his ears.  While we thought he was doing fine, it turns out he actually still has fluid in his right ear.  We will continue to monitor this and we have some drops for pain if we need them.  He continues to be a little trouper and shows no signs of pain.

After the frigid morning in Charleston, we were able to get on the road and head north to even cooler temperatures.  Payton's heavy coat and sweaters were packed and ready for use!  Meme and Pawpaw were anxiously awaiting our arrival.  Within minutes of pulling in, Calyn, Carson, Chandra and Allen had also made their way over to see Payton (and Chad and I too I'm sure!).  Friday night was nice and relaxing.  Saturday Payton enjoyed his first trip to see Calyn and Carson play basketball.  The East Bend Wildcats won the two games we saw.  Hopefully Payton picked up some basketball skills while watching Calyn and Carson.  Saturday afternoon Chad and I headed to Chapel Hill for the UNC v. Miami game.  Meme and Pawpaw had a busy night in store....they had to watch Calyn, Carson and Payton.  I'm sure it was a joy for both of them!  Calyn and Carson enjoyed helping feed Payton and hearing him cackle before bed.  He was asleep before the 9 pm basketball game.  Chad and I had a great time in Chapel Hill.  It was great to see several of our friends and have dinner with Kade and CJ and Leslie.  I felt right at home being back in the Dean Dome.  We had not been to a home game in nearly a year.  It was also nice to be able to fit in my seat a little more comfortably without my extra large pregnant belly!  Payton will go to his first game on Feb. 7th when the Heels play Virginia.

As for today, we started off our day at Mt Pleasant UMC.  Everyone is always so happy to get to see Payton.  He was a little vocal in church today.  I am beginning to realize the purpose of a church nursery and we may begin to utilize it in the near future!  After church we visited with Poppy, Chad's grandpa, prior to having lunch with the family.  The remainder of the day will be a lazy, relaxing day.  Thankfully I've found time to update the blog which is always a welcome treat!

I would also like to ask that all of our blog followers pray for Luke Wesley Sigmon.  Luke is the son of Wesley Sigmon, a distant cousin of mine from Sherrills Ford.  Luke was born in December and had to have a major heart surgery for VSD.  After spending several weeks in the NICU at Levine Children's in Charlotte he has moved to a normal bed and is now feeding from a bottle.  He has come a long way and seems to be well on the way to a full recovery.   You can see his site at www.caringbridge.org and the site name is LukeWesleySigmon.  Please keep Luke, Wesley and Lyndsi in your prayers.  Hopefully they will be home as a family very soon.
