A few new things to add to the list!

This week has been a big week for Payton.  He had changed a little every single day!  On Saturday, I realized Payton had a new tooth.  Tooth #6 had popped right through on the bottom without a fuss.  He now had 2 on top and 4 on bottom.  Saturday he enjoyed wearing his Steve Smith jersey while walking on the beach and riding through the grocery store with Mom and Dad.  January 10th...shorts and a T-shirt on the beach...how nice!  He LOVES to sit in the front of the grocery cart and see all his surroundings.  He smiles at every one we pass along the aisle!  Unfortunately, the Panthers lost...but Payton looked cute while cheering for them.  Sunday brought a new sports filled day.  He wore his UNC Nike outfit only to see the Heels fall to Wake.  What a bummer!  The little guy is starting to worry!

As Monday rolled around we prepared to head back to the real world.  Unfortunately, Cindy was sick.  Mommy had to come home at lunch to watch Payton.  How terrible!  Payton ate yogurt for the first time for lunch on Monday.  After a few funny faces he gobbled it up!  Monday night I cut up a banana for him and he picked it up and ate nearly every bite without assitance.

Tuesday was a day for the boys!  Mommy had to go to work so Daddy agreed to stay home with the little guy.  From what I hear, Payton stayed in his PJs until noon...otherwise he survived.  Tuesday night we bundled him up and took him out for job in the Bob.  When we go over a bump, I say "Bump" and Payton responds with "Bu."  So, every time we hit the smallest little bump I say it just so I can hear him respond....its so cute!

As for today, Payton had two big events.  After Cindy left for the day, I laid him down to change his diaper.  You can imagine my surprise when I realized that tooth #7 had come through today.  This one is on the top.  Again, Payton gave us NO sign that he was having any teething pain.  Lucky?  I think we are!  For the first time in over a week, Chad and I went out for dinner.  We had dinner with Andrew and Laura at Barbara Jeans.  One of the best items is the pumpkin bread.  Since we weren't eating all of ours, I cut up a few pieces to see if Payton would eat the bread.  Of course!  He ate a small plate full (and dropped a few pieces under the high chair).  I'm sure he would have had more but I cut him off.  We just have to wait and see what tomorrow brings.  Another tooth?  Maybe!

On a sad note, yesterday would have been my Nannie Evelyn's 82nd birthday.  It was a very difficult day for me.  I couldn't help but think that if she were still alive we would most likely be seeing her this weekend.  Birthdays in my family are a big deal so this one would have surely required a trip to North Carolina.  She celebrated her 81st birthday here in Mt Pleasant.  I just know how happy she would be to see Payton and see how much he has grown and changed.  He is such a happy little guy and I know he would have made her birthday extra special.  His laugh, his smile, playing with all his new toys would have made her cackle.  I must say she would have trouble holding him now, he squirms so much more than he did the last time she held him!  In my sad moments, I also realized that she is here everyday...and she does see him....and she does laugh at his little cackle!  Maybe thats part of where he gets that familiar little cackle!  He does have her toe and he does rub his fingers together just like her!  Watch out world!  Nannie, I'm sure you celebrated your birthday somehow...however you pleased!  We love you and miss you so much!

We will be making a trip to East Bend and Chapel Hill this weekend.  We hope to see many of you there!
