All about O!

Today was a BIG day for Owen!

While Daddy had big plans to head to Columbia for the big UNC vs USC game, Owen had a few important meetings!  Good thing Mommy and Owen spent some time resting on Wednesday because Thursday was going to be a LONG day!

First, we have had a cleaning service for the past few weeks...thank goodness...because between working, contractions, dinner and kids, the house was DIRTY!  Today was the last cleaning before the baby arrives...so, we had to be out of the house extra early.

So, what to do with a 3 year old when you have to leave the house by 8:30 but don't have to be anywhere til 11:00....breakfast!  This kid could seriously be in an advertising campaign for bacon.  Daddy joined us for breakfast before heading off to a day full of tailgating with a few of our USC friends.
Cutest little guy ever!  This might be one of my most favorite pictures...and despite that new fancy camera, thank goodness for my iphone!   I should also add that my boys are not usually so dressed up...this outfit was a gift from my aunt....and Owen requested "handsome boy clothes with a belt" for his trip to school.  He looked SO handsome and so grown up.  Melt my heart!

After breakfast, we were able to run a few errands...including more "to do" items on the before baby arrives list.  We went back to one of our favorite baby stores where Owen played with the train table...he loves their train table and asked to go their to play....he played, I shopped.

It was soon time to head to his preschool to meet his new teacher and check out his new class.  When we arrived, he was hesitant to enter the room...he really wanted to go to his old room and to his old teacher.  His teacher, Ms. E, introduced herself and he quickly made his way over to the toys.  I have a few pictures of him standing, smiling, etc but they are on my camera.  One day they will make it to the blog!
Checking out the cars and trucks in his new room.  Seemed to fit right in!

After meeting his teacher, we still had about an hour to kill....this pregnant woman was just ready to go home...and, it was way to hot to go to a park or sit outside...so, we ate again!  It was actually around 1 o'clock by the time we got to lunch, but it looks like spent our day eating in these photos!

This is likely one of our last Mommy and Owen dates for a long, long time.  Owen picked his favorite spot and we enjoyed our sandwiches.

Finally, after lunch, it was time to head home!  Owen had another big item on his list for the day...his first soccer practice!  This kid has seriously been waiting on this day for his entire life.  We had to leave the house around 4:40...he insisted that he had to put his soccer "uniform" on just after Payton got home from school.  He picked his own outfit...all the way down to his socks and crocs ("because that's what Payton does when he goes to practice").

My big pregnant self started to really get a little concerned about Chad being away right about this time....I had started having contractions and didn't get a chance to sit down and rest like I would have done on most other days this week....but, skip this little guy's first soccer practice, NO WAY!  Off we went.....
Is it time to go yet?  Let's go Mommy!
Owen has lots of friends on his team!  Jack and Drew, Michael and two other kids who are friends with several of our friends....yay for a good team!  He was of course excited and had a great time at his practice!  He jumped right in and followed right along with his coaches instructions.

While Owen was practicing, Mommy was having some serious contractions...and getting a little more concerned.  I pulled out my phone and started keeping track of them...I made sure to mention to all of my friends who were there that I was having contractions (while Chad was away!) and sparked enough concern that they all checked on me throughout the night...thats what friends are for!!!  All I wanted to do was get home and sit...all his coach wanted was parent participation.  Not a lot of participation from this big belly!

We made it home and the contractions slowed down.....and eventually, after watching a little of the UNC vs. USC game and getting the boys to bed, the contractions stopped....THANK GOODNESS!

The game unfortunately was delayed due to lightening and Chad had to leave before it was over.  Payton will be sad to wake up and hear that the Heels lost.

I am just grateful to have had such a fun day with Owen...and a lot of Mommy and Owen time....breakfast, errands, meeting his new teacher, lunch, brief afternoon snuggles, coloring together, our walk to the bus stop to get Payton, his soccer meeting....such big events in his little life and he loved  his day!  I loved one last day with my sweet little Owen!  Looking forward to a weekend with our family of four...before our addition arrives next week (if not before!)

This is what Payton has been doing this week....this are his "big words" that we are supposed to use at home so that he can learn to pick up on them.  These work well in our house...bickering, defiantly, harmony (as we you are not playing in harmony) and selfish!  We have found some new words to use around here!  He is still loving his class and school!
