30 something....

Happy Birthday to ME!

My birthday was great - I went in to work for a few hours in the morning, headed out early to meet up with Chad to see Payton's VBS presentation, had a great lunch with 2 of my boys at Vickery's on Shem Creek, got a great present from Chad and the boys and ended the day by hitting the road and heading the NC.  I can't remember now why we were so late in leaving but I do remember that my birthday dinner was celebrated at 8 pm at the Outback in Columbia, as we were passing though....and we had two cranky little boys.  By the time we got to Grandma's house it was late and they headed to bed (after a meltdown, I think?!?).  It was so late that my mom decided to keep my cake in hiding (birthday cakes are secrets in my family).  She did surprise me with the cake by pulling it out for breakfast at 7:30 on Friday morning!  I love cake so no matter the time of day, I'll eat it!

The funny thing was that this little guy, who had celebrated his 2nd birthday just 5 days earlier...and refused to eat his cake....also loved my cake....and ended up eating TWO pieces for breakfast!

Yum!
Yum!

Yum!!!

We enjoyed the birthday celebrations with my parents and then headed out for a day on the lake.  Chandra and Allen had brought their boat down to Lake Norman for the day.  The rain cut our day a little short but we had a great time and the kids loved it!  Owen and Payton both had a turn riding the tube with Calyn and Carson.  Owen still talks about Uncle Allen's boat.  In fact, we had such a great day that we started discussing possibly owning a lake house....a few short months later, plans are indeed underway for us to get a lake house on LKN....this SF girl may have been gone for a long time but it looks like I'll be making my way back home a little more often...for vacation time and family time!  It will be great to be able to be close to family a few more times each year.  Lots of great memories to come I am sure!
