Payton's flag football season was great...except for the fact that the games were held at 2 pm on Sunday afternoons....in June and July....in Charleston. Can you say HOT and HUMID! He did a have a great time and he learned a little about the game as well. His coach was intense which was really helpful for Payton. The last game was SO hot that we all came prepared with lots of fluids and any searched for any shade we could find!
His season came to a close with an exciting game at the end of June.
Warming up for the last game
Owen - chillin' - with his shades on upside down - in the shade of his stroller
Payton running out to catch a pass
One way to keep cool....
Spraying down the players with cold water! Anson loved it!
Owen loved drinking all our "Gator-ape"
Game time:
Payton did a great job running the ball
A fierce looking defensive line :)
Hey Coach! I'm ready! Put me in.....PUH-LEASE!
Payton lining up to take the hand off from Aeydn Pawlyck and run this play as the running back
He's looking good!
He sneaks past his defenders...
...and leaves them in the dust...
on his way to a TOUCHDOWN!
Oh no.....they are picking up speed....and they will catch him
...he's down on the 1 yard line.
They line up for one more chance....
...and it is incomplete.
With the clock winding down, Aedyn hands it off and they score!
TOUCHDOWN! Hooray!
good game...good game....good game
After the game, they get there team medals
Payton gets his medal from his Coach
Payton's buddies from school
Brooks, Payton and Aedyn
Way to go Payton.....four rounds of "little league sports" have come and gone so quickly and you have continued to grow with each sport. Soccer, Flag Football with Coach Rusty, T Ball, and Flag Football in the summer. I have quickly learned that its not about how good or bad you are at each sport....skills will be more developed later....it is about learning the basics and having fun while doing so, teaching you how to play on a team, good sportsmanship, picking someone up when they fall, brushing it off when it might hurt, and cheering (loudly) when you are your teammates do something great. You are clearly destined to love sports and you have since you were old enough to voice any sort of opinion. No matter how hot it is (or cold, rainy, etc) or how early we have to run out of the house on a weekend morning when we could be lazy, laying around in jammies, I can already say, without a doubt, it is so very worth it! The excitement on your face when your team scores is pretty much priceless! I am apparently destined to be the mother of boys and I will always be your biggest cheerleader. Looking forward to another round of sports this fall!
