Take Me Out to the Ballgame....and summertime fun!

Once again, we took advantage of the cheap MUSC employee tickets and headed back out to see the Riverdogs.  The boys were really excited this time because we had a few guests meeting us at the game...and, these special friends come in a package of 3!  We were thrilled to head to the game with Chris, Staci, Aubrey, Gracie, McKay, and Miss Rachel....those might be 4 of Payton's most favorite non-related people!  Aubrey, Gracie and McKay are triplets - 8 year old triplets who are daughters of our youth minister at church.  Thanks to Miss Rachel and Chad's involvement with the high school youth at church, we have been getting to know Chris and Staci better as well.  We love them...all 5 of them!  The girls love Payton and Owen so it was exciting to have all of them together outside of our regular Sunday morning routine!

During the game, I noticed the announcer looking at Payton and as the 7 inning approached, he came up to talk with us.  He asked Payton if he would be willing to sing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the 7th inning stretch.  He is often shy in these situations, but this time he was excited to take on the challenge and agreed to sing with him.  I hate I didn't have my big camera with me to get a shot of his little face on the big screen but I did get a few of him singing.

Loving the spotlight!

He got a bag of goodies that he shared with the girls.  He kept the hat and shared a Riverdogs baseball with Owen.  The girls got sunglasses, a christmas ornament and a few other items.  It was really exciting and a surprise to see him sing at the game.  We'll keep our fingers crossed that he'll catch their eye again sometime in the future!

Our little superstar (who quickly replaced the Redsox that he was wearing with his new Riverdogs hat)

Other exciting things from our busy July included:

Owen's fingerprint paint from school

Payton's line tracing from Miss Daniele's class...and, his coloring inside the lines is getting better!

Payton's class spent a week over the summer learning about the circus and enjoying a circus theme. It's important to note that months after the end of basketball season, Payton still named his elephant Harrison, after Harrison Barnes of course!

We enjoyed a few neighborhood bike rides!  Payton is doing great on his bike.  We'll have to start trying without training wheels sometime soon....I'm just not that brave yet!  With training wheels on, he's pretty quick and can keep up with my pace even if I'm jogging!

Payton's sun-bleached beach hair!  Thank goodness for shampoo!!

Finally, the last Tuesday in July was my last "full time" day at work (or, it was supposed to be...that actually didn't happen until September).  On my last full time week, they treated me with food in clinic and flowers.  These are the beautiful flowers.

And, the two reasons that I'm cutting back to part-time are right here....they are zoned into TV at the moment....but, I LOVE that they are side by side all the time.  If Payton disappears at any time, Owen hunts and hunts until he finds them.  They are best buds - yes, they fight and yell occasionally throughout the day - and I hope they stay this way for life!
Sometimes, they are SO sweet that I could just eat them up!   Now, I just have to remember those times when I'm wondering exactly why I quit my perfectly good full time job to be home with them more....I can't wait to get started with our new routine!
