Proud to be an American!

Our "Miss Rachel"
She is the BEST!

I posted back in July about our July 4th celebrations.  We started off with a Riverdogs game and fireworks.  We were lucky enough to have a sitter for Owen which let us enjoy the night with Payton.  Rachel was happy to tag along for the game, fireworks and a night full of fun.

The 4th fell on a Wednesday this year and we took full advantage of our holiday.
On IOP, things heated up when Gene and her sister, McCall played a pretty intense beach tennis game...complete with beach tennis rackets.  They drew a big crowd for the match-up.

We were all treated to a fly over honoring our independence and the men and women fighting for our freedom.  I only had my small camera so the quality isn't that great....but, on the beach that afternoon everyone stopped to admire the scene!

After a great day at the beach, we headed home, showered and rallied our own troops....we loaded the car back up and headed back out to meet up with more friends for a night of fireworks.  We found the best, kid friendly spot to watch fireworks last year and enjoyed being out there again this year.  The kids had a great time!

We clean up pretty good (in my own opinion!)

Once we made it to the Pitt Street bridge, we set up camp and enjoyed our time....and our chicken from Bojangles, which has become a yearly treat!

From our seats on the walkway, we are privileged to a view of the Sullivan's Island lighthouse and the Charleston Harbor.  Beautiful sights of the lowcountry....we are blessed to live in such a wonderful place and its nice to pause to remember such amazing reminders.

We're all smiles as we wait for the fireworks.  The noise of the fireworks scared Owen just a little at first, but once he realized we were far, far away, he was able to relax and enjoy.  We are able to see the fireworks from many locations....it is beautiful as they all light up the sky.  Owen kept saying "fireworks scary me."

We extended our celebrations into the weekend.  Kade and Mary Margaret came down for the weekend after the 4th.  We enjoyed a day at the beach, lunch on the water and, thanks to Miss Rachel, a great kid-free dinner.

It was a great week of celebrating the 4th....so much to do, so little time!  We took advantage of many opportunities and enjoyed making lots of memories with family and friends.
