When we decided to travel to NC last weekend, we knew it would be a quick trip. We had plans late into Thursday night - including our family pictures and our first oyster roast of the year to benefit a great local organization. We packed on Friday morning and hit the road....we were happy to get to Grandma's around 2 in the afternoon.
The boys were happy to find Grandpa's hard hat and each took turns playing with them for a few minutes!
Doesn't Grandma look great in her new red recliner!!??!! Grandma and Grandpa have spent the last few months redecorating their living room and it looks great. We spent a little time looking at pictures of new table options...we can't wait to see what they decide to do! The room really does look great and, I hear new curtains have been added since we were there....truly, an end of an era when those ruffles came down!
While waiting on Grandpa to get home, we spent some time visiting with Uncle Alf. The boys had fun running crazy on his porch while we chatted. We missed Aunt Moe but luckily got to see her at the football game on Saturday.
We were lucky enough to have dinner with our whole family - including both sets of parents and Chandra, Allen, KK and Carson - on Friday night. One benefit of having Chad's family in SF is that we can see everyone much easier!
Back at the lake house, the kids were WILD and LOUD but you do have to appreciate how much they love each other. Carson was so sweet reading Payton and Owen's new books.
Saturday was a full day! We had a football game, a yard sale and a chicken stew on the agenda!

I rarely get to see my little cousins play sports so it was great that Rachel was cheering and Moses was playing football on Saturday morning. Payton and I hit the road and drove through the country to see the game. It was great seeing him play and also to hang out with my cousin, Aunt and Uncle for a little time Saturday morning.

After the game, we dashed back to the lake to grab lunch....and spot Chad and KK on the jet ski!
I swapped kids and ran back out with Owen. We went over to see my Mom and my other cousin and his family at the yard sale they were having. I ended up taking a few things off their hands....lots of fun toys and books for the boys and a lamp and laundry basket for the lake. Owen napped in the car the WHOLE time!
Once back at the lake, it was time to relax and spend a little time with all of Chad's family.
We had a big chicken stew scheduled!
The chicken stew was great....and our visit was great...but we had an early start on Sunday morning. Payton is now singing in the Angel Notes choir at church. This Sunday was his big singing debut in the service for Children's Sunday. He was so excited to sing in church that there was NO way we could let our travel plans, however important they may have been, get in the way of him singing in church. We were up and ready and pulled out of the drive in NC at 5:30. We had drive thru biscuits for breakfasts and changed the boys from jammies to church clothes at a rest stop as we got closer. We made it to church with time to spare.

It may have been a quick trip and an early morning with kids but it was ALL worth to see our little Angel singing in front of the church. In fact, the kids did SO good on our early morning ride that we may consider doing this every time we travel!
