Babbling turns to words

Payton has now entered the world of pointing, grunting, and saying a wide range of words. Last night, Chad and I were eating dinner at the table while Payton sat in his highchair eating his food. Payton had corn and cut up pork loin on his plate. Chad and I had the same with the exception of a sweet potato. As soon as I started to eat my sweet potato, one of Payton's favorite foods, he started - point, grunt, point, grunt. Finally, I gave in and shared my potato with him. As soon as he would finish one bite - point, grunt, bite, chew,['+\ swallow, point, grunt....and it continued. He also ate his own pork loin, corn, and mandarin oranges. He continues to love his fruit. Pears, apples, bananas, mandarin oranges, strawberries, cherries, peaches, pineapple, mango...it really doesn't matter, fruit is his favorite! He also seems to love vegetables. He eats all of his peas and carrots before digging in to the other items on his plate.

Payton has also started using his baby sign language. Unfortunately, I was not as consistent with this as I should have been or had hoped to be. He has learned "all done" and uses it appropriately. He uses the sign for "all done" when he is finished eating or to help tell Bailey she is "all done." Every night Payton helps us feed Bailey. We get the food from the bag in the garage, he walks over the her bowl, he tells her to "sit," we give her the food, and he tells her "all done!" He says "all done" and he uses the sign. Bailey eats!

Payton's vocabulary has grown more and more each day. His current vocabulary includes:
"food" for Bailey's food;
"done" for all done;
"outside" with an emphasis on the side, he always tells us this - whether he wants to go outside or if he is just looking out the window and sees the outside;
"ball" of course! This is used for the actual ball, the basketball goals around the neighborhood, the tennis courts, and any form of ballgame seen on TV
"baby" but baby is used for all children not just babies;
"boggle"
baba has now changed to boggle which he uses to describe his sippy cup or our water bottle;
"Bailey" which
shoulds more like bay-yee for Bailey
"Dog"
"Mama"
"Dada"
"
Birr" which he says when he hears a bird chirp
"Tree" which doesn't sound perfect, but he points at a tree and says a "t" word
"sop sign" occasionally for stop sign, with a high-pitched emphasis on sign
"
ove" which he uses to tell Bailey to MOVE! Especially when she wags her tail in his face!
"baoon" for his now deflated birthday balloons;
"gaage" for garage which he has learned is different from outside;
"bubble" when we play with bubbles outside;
"bib" which he added this morning as I was putting his bib on him;
"shhh" with his little finger up to his mouth...for now its adorable!
"peek" for the front end of peek-a-boo which he plays all the time - he covers his eyes and says "peek";
"Ella" or sometimes "Elga" for his best friend Ella

As for his animals, he now knows that a cow says
mooo, a chicken says baq-baq, a birds says tweet-tweet, a monkey says ou-ou-ou-ou, and a lion roars. We are still working on the elephant!

Most importantly, he still pops kisses to us! He hasn't learned to blow kisses yet but it is a kiss for sure!
