Homemade Strawberry Ice Cream

A beautiful, relaxing Saturday + big, red, juicy, freshly picked strawberries = Homemade Strawberry Ice Cream!  Andrew, Laura, Matt, Lindsey and Ella came over Saturday night for a cookout.  The burgers and salad were very good, the babies were in their PJ's and still in a good mood, friends were chatting, and the White Mountain was cranking....what a perfect night!!  Chad and I both have wonderful childhood memories that involve long summer nights and a freezer or two or three of homemade ice cream.  We don't make ice cream as frequently as we used to have it growing up but we always enjoy making it and sharing it with our friends.  Hopefully Payton will start cranking the hand-crank freezer soon!  The more you work for it, the better it taste!

Ella and Payton were up way pass their usual bedtime.  Ella was a sweet girl and remained calm.  Payton made laps and laps around the porch.  He attempted to drink the citronella candle.  Unfortunately, he also dropped and broke my citronella candle.

Once the ice cream was finished, everyone got a cup.  The plan was for Payton to share with Mommy.  Payton had a better idea.  Payton and Ella claimed their spot right in front of Lindsey.  Apparently, Lindsey's cup had the best ice cream.  Payton would not leave their side.  So, Lindsey, Ella and Payton all shared a cup of strawberry ice cream.

Ella and Payton ate so much ice cream!  I'm pretty sure that Payton is a big fan of ice cream - homemade, hand-dipped, or store bought - he's not picky!
