"OUCH!"
Sunday we were thrilled to visit my dad at Murrays Mill Days. My father, a proud member of the Catawba Valley Beekeepers Association, was there for the weekend teaching people about the importance of bees and selling honey. He has been in the "bee business" for about 10 years. Yes, he may look silly in his bee suit, but he is saving the world one pollinated flower at a time....and making some very tasty honey in the process!
My mom and I may find humor in his new found hobby but Payton really loves it!
Grandpa was very happy to show Payton off to his fellow beekeeper pals and let Payton have a taste of local, Sherrills Ford honey.
Payton was very excited to see all the bees. He has learned to say bee and he is able to point them out. We had a wasp nest on our porch when Aunt Chandra was here. She taught Payton to say "ouch" when he saw the wasp. When we ask Payton what a bee says, he says "ouch!" We'll get around to teaching him buzz later...ouch is too funny for now!
Yes Payton, there is a bee in there!
His teacher wrote that he saw two bees and a butterfly on a walk last week and immediately started saying "bee...bee...bee." Thanks Grandpa! You definitely made an impression!
After visiting with the bees, we were able to see my Papaw Joe for a short time. He has been sickand it has now been determined that he has a compression fracture in one of his thoracic vertebrae. Please keep him in your prayers as he heals and deals with the pain this is causing. Payton also saw Papaw Joe on Saturday night while we were at the reunion. I know this really lifts his spirits even when he is feeling bad. Payton told him "I love you" as we were leaving...too cute!
The weekend was full of events and unfortunately, we did not get to see many of my family members. Luckily, we were able to eat at Butcher Boys with my aunt Moe and cousin Cole on Saturday for lunch but I missed seeing many others and missed going to church on Sunday. We will have to make another trip this fall.
For now, please remember to support the honey bees and if you need any honey, just let me know! I know where to find some excellent local honey made with free range bees!
