The weekend after Easter we had a "surprise" visit from Payton's godfather, Eric Hoots. I love that Payton calls him "Hoots" like most everyone else. To me, he will always be Eric Hoots - full name, crammed together as if it is one name - when it comes out of my mouth. Eric told us he may come visit but we didn't know for sure. I had booked myself that Friday - started with a OB appointment, stopped for a Pedicure next, then had my hair cut and highlights, and finished up with Payton's 2 year check-up. In the middle of my pedicure he called to say that he was coming - and that he was leaving in about 30 minutes - luckily, it takes 4 hours to make the drive so I still had a little prep time. Stopped by the grocery store and made it home just in time to see Eric Hoots!
Payton was SO happy to spend some time with Eric. I think Payton thinks Eric is just a tall kid - he certainly acts like one! They enjoyed playing basketball together - and just like old times, I had to remind Eric to quit hitting my walls with the balls...kids! We had dinner with Andrew and Laura at Shem Creek. Dinner was a bit of a laugh because we wanted to sit outside, overlooking Shem Creek, and being attacked by the No-see-ums. We survived! Saturday we attempted to go to the beach but it was way too windy. We ended to day at the Riverdogs game. Payton was scared of Charlie the River Dog!
Eric headed home on Sunday. Our quick trip was over and I think we were all a bit sad to watch him leave! It is always nice to have an old friend around - one who doesn't take much to prepare for and doesn't require much entertainment while they are here - it was great to have a little time to relax with him for the weekend. We hope Eric and Amy will make another trip back to see us soon!
