Owen is TWO weeks old! Fourteen days! I can't believe how quickly his second week has gone by!
We've been busy!
Mommy and Owen were "home alone" last Wednesday and Thursday during the day.
We spent our time watching the longest tennis match in history. John Isner and Nicolas Mahut played an epic tennis match in Wimbledon which lasted a total of 11 hours, continued over a span of 3 days, and ended with a score of 70-68 in the fifth match with Isner taking the win. He went on to loose his next match, which we also watched, in 3 straight sets!
We have enjoyed time as a family of four! Payton is adjusting nicely.
He loves to hold you, talk to you, and tell you things. If you cry, he tells you "it's okay Owen." If you sneeze, he says "bless you!" Sometimes he calls you "buddy" because that is what I call him. Payton has watched Toy Story 2 about 15 times in the last week so you are probably memorizing the words as well! Payton's temper tantrums are getting better and he has been very good for Grandma this week.
We watched the USA win and loose in the 2010 FIFA World Cup which was taking place in South Africa.
We headed out for lunch and dinner. I think you will enjoy being on the go with us just like Payton always has. We have shopped at Kohls - twice! and Target.
Grandma and Grandpa came back on Saturday afternoon.
The nursery is officially Owen's room!
Grandpa did a little work and headed back to NC for the week. Grandma has been here helping out for the week.
We watched the Dodgers vs. Yankees on Sunday night. We laughed as the Yankees made repeated errors on bunts and cringed as they came back and won at the end of the game.
We Skyped for the first time with Meme, Pawpaw, Chandra and Carson.
We watched multiple games in the College World Series - the last World Series in Rosenblatt Stadium. We stayed up late at the South Carolina Gamecocks took home the National Championship on Tuesday, June 29th. Of course, we had to pull for the Gamecocks over UCLA and enjoyed the thrilling game which stretched late to the night and into the bottom of the 11th inning.
On his 14th day, Owen was a busy boy! He traveled with Mommy and Grandma to Mommy's 2 week post-op check. Mommy was doing great! After the doctor's visit we all had lunch at the Soda Water Grill. Later in the afternoon, we all went to pick Payton up from school, made a trip to Kohls to look for new picture frames for all the new pictures we are gaining and ended up at Chic Fil A for dinner....what a treat! Owen was an angel the entire time!
Day #14 is the first day Daddy has been away overnight! We'll see how mommy does with two little boys through the night!
Owen, you are still being a very good baby! I hope this continues! You like to stay awake for one long stretch in the middle of the night - but you are an angel all day long. Hopefully you will start sleeping better at night soon. You seem to have some bad gas pains. You have had a few big spit-ups and some MAJOR poops! You poop more than any baby I've ever known! You are so sweet and I love to cuddle with you! You like to curl up into a tiny ball with your feet up under your stomach. I guess you haven't learned to take advantage of all the space you have now! You seem to be growing but you are still so tiny to me - long and lean! You are having more periods of wakefulness and beginning to enjoy laying on your back and looking around as you discover your new home! You love your big green paci and you are still a good eater! You are so sweet, sweet, sweet....and again, I'm wishing I could slow this all down. As you get older, my precious time with you as a newborn gets shorter! I had forgotten how much I loved this special time with Mommy and baby...despite the lack the sleep! Love, Mommy
