Payton had his last flag football game today. It was a nice sunny day on DI but very cold as a cold front had started moving in! His final game day included two games - one at 11 and one at 12. He scored a total of 3 touchdowns and did a great job pulling flags off as a defender. He truly loves this game and it has become more and more obvious with each game.
This is his first TD of the day - all of the following pictures are in order:
He starts off running toward the right side of the field
As the defense starts to run toward him (and just for a little show) he cuts back to the left. He is so proud of his "cuts!"
He is able to keep running
....and easily scores a TOUCH DOWN!
Payton, playing defense
After the game, each player got a medal. Payton loves his medals and trophies. This brings his medal count up to 6 - 2 for soccer, 3 for flag football and 1 for tee ball.
Payton is happy to receive his medal
Payton and his friend Jack. Jack and Payton have always gone to church together and Jack is in Payton's class at school.
It continues to be so much fun to watch Payton play. As he scored his final touch down of the day, we all got a good laugh. As he was running, he had his eyes on us to make sure we saw him! Yes buddy, we always see you!
There are no pictures of Owen (also playing the role of Cam Newton today!) because he was too busy playing with a few of his girlfriends on the nearby baseball field. He ran the bases until the tripped and got dirty! There was also a dad and son having batting practice on another field. He spent his last 30 minutes standing at the fence and watching. I guess he is ready to move on from football to baseball too! It is going to be very hard to keep Owen off of the baseball field when that starts in a few weeks. I will be the happiest Mom out there when Owen is old enough to sign up for his first sport, which will be soccer this fall. It is so hard to chase him off the field every game! Poor little guy just wants to be out there like his brother!
Flag football, season 3, has come to a close. Grateful for another great season with Cannon Street YMCA flag football!
We spent most of the afternoon bundled up inside. It was a cold, rainy, windy afternoon! Payton and I ventured out for a few errands and it was so nice to have a little time alone with Payton. As we walked though Boone Hall Farms, Target and Harris Teeter, he ran, hopped, and jumped along side me. He was a big help carrying bags and helping pick out a few things for Daddy...including his favorite chips and a sweet treat for the night! I was so thankful that Owen had been able to stay home with Daddy....our last few trips to the store have been beyond terrible!
We ended our night by watching the 1st half of Ice Age: The Meltdown (it was on TV). We are starting to make a habit out of a weekly movie night. It is a lot of fun to snuggle up with the boys and laugh together. Our last movie night was two weeks ago - Chad surprised the boys with Space Jam (Looney Tunes characters and Michael Jordan). The LOVE it and would watch it nearly every day. It is hilarious to me that Michael Jordan (greatest basketball player of all time who just happened to play at UNC) is turning 50 and he is a daily topic of conversation with my 2 and 4 year old! He is a legend!
The finale of our night was watching Duke take a big fat L to the Maryland Terps. I am well aware that the Heels couldn't pull out a win against the Duke Yucks....but, the Terps did and that makes me a happy girl! Payton is finally well aware that we never pull for Duke....his reason, "because you have to sleep in tents to get tickets to see them play." Whatever works!
Happy Saturday! Hope all you North Carolinians enjoyed your snow day...we are just a wee bit jealous!
