We were so busy.
It rained all day long.
It poured all day long.
We were busy watching it rain. We slept in a little late...or attempted to sleep while letting the boys watch mindless television. We had to get up once they started running, screaming and hitting! I did a little laundry and cleaned up our spare bedroom that becomes one big pile of clean clothes. We watched the UNC vs NCSU game. THE HEELS WON! We celebrated! The boys played basketball in the garage...because it was pouring outside! I did a little research on summer camps for the little guys. I planned our 11th grade Sunday School lesson. We all ate random, mismatched left overs for dinner. The boys were in bed around 8:00.....pure joy! We made our way back to our comfy couches and watched part of two movies. Oh yes, it was a busy day. I probably could have made time to blog but I just didn't. Sorry!
Sunday rolled around and we found the SUN. Bright, glorious, beautiful sun!
We had a great morning at church. Payton sang with his choir, the Angel Notes, to start off the 9:45 service. We watched him before we darted over to Sunday School. We only had 2 kids show up...out of a normal group of 10 or more. We joined in with the freshman and seniors. We had an interesting discussion about high school. What you would change? What you would do the same? This is always an interesting topic to me. I often wonder, if I did change those things that I would change, would I still be the same person I am today? Interesting to think back and discuss with people who are in that phase right now.
The boys were both excellent in their Sunday school classes. Owen charmed his teachers by answering all their questions correctly and telling them about Michael Jordan...his newly discovered favorite player!
We ran into friends who were visiting our church today and sat with them in the service. Our sermon was our second week in our Lenten prayer series. We discussed "our daily bread." It was a very powerful sermon and I'm thankful I was able to focus and absorb!
We had lunch with good friends after church.
Once we were back home, we all changed into "play clothes" and headed outside. Owen and Payton were of course in jerseys. Owen was also in big boy underwear. He didn't use the potty but he did pee pee in his underwear and he didn't like it...progress? Maybe....I am not convinced!
We played outside for nearly three hours. This even included a two-on-two game....Mommy and Payton against Daddy and Owen. I'm pretty sure Payton and I won. He hit lots of 3's and I blocked a few shots....yes, I did block my 2 year old son's shots...but, this house is competitive. He taunted me by telling me that I couldn't block a shot. I blocked his next three. Chad scolded me for such horrible parenting so I gave in and let him hit a few shots. Owen actually loved it and laughed as I blocked each shot!
The boys took a walk around the neighborhood with me to finish up the perfect afternoon. Payton dribbled for the entire walk! We also found dandelions and used them to make wishes.
Hopefully our wishes will come true!
Like most days in our house, we talked about sports and who "we" would play for when we grow up. Payton is still headed to Chapel Hill to be a Tar Heel. He is mostly worried about how he will get there. He asked us in the car today if we would drive him to Chapel Hill. We told him yes, of course. We also told him he would probably have his own car. Yikes!
Payton asked Owen is he was also going to play for the Tar Heels. Owen yelled, "NO!" Our youngest Heel is planning on skipping college and heading straight to the NBA. He is not going to be Tar Heel. He is going to be a Bull...as in the Chigaco Bulls. We have a new team to pull for...the Bulls. Just another reason to be thankful for the movie Space Jam!
Payton is going to play in the NBA too....for the Golden State Warriors. Where do they get this stuff??
At dinner, Payton decided baseball and basketball were his favorite sports. I asked if he was going to play both. He said yes. I asked how long he thought he would play each, explaining that it was tough to be double sport athlete. He thought and said he would play both until the was 35! Good luck little guy!
I'm looking forward to many more days spent outside playing, enjoying beautiful weather and letting our imaginations run wild! We thanked God for our beautiful day during our bed time prayers! After being inside for days due to the rain, we were extremely grateful!
