Payton slept until 9:00 on Friday morning. Mommy slept until 9:00 Friday morning too! How wonderful! We all loaded in the car and headed downtown around 11:00. We had lunch at Fleet Landing in downtown Charleston. It is one of the only restaurants on the waterfront in the area. We enjoyed trying this new restaurant. Like I said in a previous post, there are so many great restaurants in Charleston. It has been very exciting to test out the food at several of these places. Looking forward to trying our next new restaurant!
After lunch we headed to the SC Aquarium. My parents gave us a family membership for Christmas and we have enjoyed using it over the past 6 months. My parents had not been able to go with Payton. We upgraded to the Family + 2 membership. FYI - if you are visiting and would like to go to the aquarium, we can get 2 people in for free in addition to our family!
Payton is really starting to enjoy looking at the fish, turtles, snakes, birds, and alligators. Each time we go he finds something new to focus on. He has learned what a fish is and repeated fish over and over while we were in the aquarium.
Daddy and Payton. Payton is wearing his 4th of July outfit. His shirt says "Home of the Brave." He looked very cute in this red, white and blue outfit!!
Payton, Grandpa and Grandma enjoyed the fish, crabs, turtles, and birds in the outdoor exhibit. He loves getting right in front of the glass and watching the fish swim in front of him.
"Fish"
Our last stop of the day was the ocean tank. The sharks came right by us multiple times. We tried to show Payton the shark's sharp teeth.
On the way home from the aquarium we decided we needed a little refreshment...in the form of ice cream of course! Payton feel asleep in his seat just as we were pulling into the parking lot. We gently woke him up and asked if he wanted ice cream. His eyes popped open and he shook his head yes. He enjoyed sharing with Mommy, Daddy, and Grandpa. Grandpa was eating her ice cream from a waffle cone which must have confused him. He refused to take a bite of her ice cream! He finally finished his nap when we got back home.
Grandma and Grandpa were happy to babysit Payton so Chad and I could have a "date night." We shared our date night with Andrew and Laura. We went to see a movie and then had a late dinner. It was so nice to see a movie. I think it had been at least 4 years since I had seen a movie in a theater...no joke! Thanks again to Grandma and Grandma for letting us have a little time without the little guy!
