After visiting with Mawmaw and Deana we rushed back to Meme's to have lunch with Calyn, Carson, Aunt Chandra and Uncle Allen. Meme had planned for our favorites. Tomato sandwiches on homemade bread! What a wonderful summer lunch! She made Payton is very on miniature loaf of bread. I used it to make him a tiny little sandwich, complete with Dukes mayonnaise. Unfortunately, Payton did not seem to enjoy his first tomato sandwich experience. I know he will grow to love them (and BBQ!!).
After lunch it was time to play! Calyn and Carson had a bag of toys waiting for Payton when we arrived on Friday night. This included a few of their old toys, bubbles, and a singing ram that Deana had sent home with them. At first Payton was scared of the singing, dancing ram but by the end of the weekend he repeatedly asked to turn it on and clapped as it chanted "Go Tar Heels!"
They also had a train track for Payton. Payton loved the train track at Dollywood. I was very excited about the train track because I really hope Payton will like playing with trains. My grandpa Joe has always loved trains and I hope Payton can carry on that tradition!
Getting the track set up was a family project!
Uncle Allen set the track up with a hill...this is Payton's favorite part! He enjoyed watching the train roll down the hill. Thanks Allen!
After playing for about an hour Calyn and Carson had to leave. Calyn had softball practice. Her team is preparing to play in the World Series! Good Luck Calyn!! Aunt Gail was finally able to stop by and visit with Payton. His good mood thankfully continued. Of course, he is most likely going to be in a good mood if you let him play outside!
Aunt Gail helps Payton on the slide....
....and he loves it! Do it again!
How fun!!
He has trouble trying to determine which is more fun - the slide or the lawnmower. He mowed one section of Meme and Pawpaw's yard.
Then he mowed another section....check out that form!
...and then another section! The grass was looking good! He loved that little lawnmower! I'm hoping to get him one to play with when we are outside here. He always wants to play with his bat and ball outside so it may be nice to have a second option!
The morning and early afternoon had been very exciting. So exciting that Payton had to have a nap! We let him sleep for an hour before moving on to our next activity. Meme decided that when Payton visits he is not allowed to nap because there is so much to see and so much to do. I think she might be right! We tried to squeeze in as much fun as possible!
