Payton had started running a fever off and on over the weekend. He seemed to feel completely fine of course. Thursday his fever started over again. I had agreed to work on Friday and had a babysitter lined up to watch Payton. Unfortunately, Chad had to end up taking Payton to the doctor on Friday morning. He was diagnosed with a double ear infection and started on 10 days of antibiotics. The babysitter was finally able to watch him for the afternoon and Chad was able to get a little work finished...I think!
We were excited about having a weekend at home in Mt Pleasant. We had NO plans...which was just perfect! Friday night we made up for my horrible birthday and went to dinner at California Dreaming. We had a great seat on the water, watched the boats and saw a few dolphins. Payton enjoyed the kids hot dog (cut into tiny pieces) and loved watching the boats and the birds.
Saturday we had planned to be at the beach early and then leave in time for lunch. Well, as many of you know, we are famous (or I should say I am famous) for getting a late start. It worked out better that way in the end. We had an early lunch at Poe's - our favorite island spot. Payton enjoyed a cheese quesadilla as usual and he has a new found love of fries! After lunch, we headed to the beach. Payton is getting more and more comfortable at the beach. We spent 3 hours at the beach playing in the water, the sand, and looking at the birds! We enjoyed a very laid back afternoon and evening at home.
Sunday, we headed to church for the early service at 9:45. I should have known the day was going to be a challenging one! I had a cute outfit for Payton to wear. Unfortunately, it was a little big and he was able to slide his arms out of the top. He managed to get nearly undressed twice at home. We finally made it to church and I headed to the nursery while Chad parked the car. Payton had started to fuss as I was signing him in and as I handed him over he completely melted down. I did the only thing I knew to do....hurried away thinking he would quit very soon. The nursery passes out pagers so they can contact you if there is a problem. We were still doing the weekly openings and the pager went off in Chad's pocket. Hmmm........ So, Chad went to the nursery and came back with the little guy! They headed up to the balcony while I remained downstairs. Luckily, we made it through the remainder of the service with no problems or outburst from Payton. Unfortunately, he will probably be known as the crying baby who got kicked out of the nursery for a few weeks!
One of our best decisions of the weekend was to go downtown for brunch/lunch after church. There are so many great restaurants in the area and we never get to enjoy them. Virginia's on King is one of the many restaurants I had been wanting to try. Sunday lunch was perfect opportunity. I must say that it is definitely a new favorite spot! We tried an appetizer of Tomato Pie and enjoyed a side of good ole' southern mac-n-cheese. Yum Yum!
The weekend had to come to an end. It was great to spend an entire weekend at home an enjoy some nice relaxing, quality time as a family.
