Day 23....the little guy

Owen, sweet little Owen.  Owen is one of those kids who makes you crazy and makes you smile in the same split second.
Owen, sliding into home...just to get dirty!

Here are a few of the things he has done lately.

Since watching the movie Space Jam weeks ago, Owen has become fascinated with Michael Jordan.  It has come to this....When someone says, "What's your name?" Owen responds, "A Bull."  Luckily, this sounds a little like Owen, so I don't even explain.  I just smile and nod..."Owen."

He continues to have bizarre sporting allegiances.  The Panthers, while we actually pull for the Redskins.  The Bulls for an NBA team, while probably hasn't even seen an NBA game and while his big brother constantly talks about the Golden State Warriors.  He does like the Dodgers...but, this crazy kid watched about 2 hours worth of a spring training game today...Yankees vs St Louis Cardinals....and proclaimed he really wants an "angry birds" jersey.  Crazy, crazy kid!  At least one thing is certain, he is still a Heels fan....and his jersey is still for James Michael McAdoo...even though the number isn't exactly the same.

He imitates MJ every day.  He begs to watch youtube videos of him everyday.  Slam dunks, McD@nalds commericals, Hanes...you name it, we watch it!

Yes, he do's....I know, incorrect spelling, grammar, everything!  Instead of saying "does," Owen says "do's."  This is most often heard as:
Owen: Payton has my ball.
Mom/Dad: No he doesn't.
Owen:  Yes he DO'S!

Potty time....We already had three potty seats in our house.  A green frog, a more traditional mini toilet that sings "toilet paper, toilet paper" and says "You went Potty!," and a foam potty seat that fits on top of a regular toilet seat.  Owen didn't like any of these.  I am happy to admit, that I only paid for one of these from the start.  In W@lmart on Saturday night, we took a minute to walk through the big boy underwear to attempt (again) to entice him to try to use the potty.  He spotted a Lightening McQueen potty seat....that doubles as a stool.  We have tried every other idea, so, why not.  He did sit on the potty....several times...but, no pee pee yet.  He did wear pull-ups to the ball field over the weekend and he did "attempt" to pee pee in the grass a few times (after he had already wet the pull-up).  One day soon it has to happen!

Good aim....Owen gets mad in the car (and nearly every where else).  His bad habit in the car is to take his socks and shoes off and throw them.  He used to simply throw them down.  Over the past few days, he has improved his shot.  I have taken a sock to the head a few times and today, a shoe to the face....while driving...not really the best decision for the little guy.

Sports...he wants to wear a jersey every.single.day.  I am counting down the days til summer so he can wear athletic shorts and some sort of sports shirt every day.  Today, he changed clothes five times.  He did wear his UNC jersey and shorts twice.  He tried to wear them in public but I reminded him the Duke lose was still too fresh and we didn't mean any rude comments at the store.

The store...We go to the grocery store on Monday morning.  Every single Monday, I think I may have to abandon my cart and leave my groceries.  Harris Teeter offers curb side pick-up but I truly enjoy the grocery store...or I used to.  Why is my kid the only one I see climbing out of the buggy and running in the aisles.  People smile at me with a certain sense of pity.  At least Monday grocery shopping with one is much better that afternoon trips to T@rget with both...learned my lesson on that!

This kid is as cute as he is stubborn.  Independent and tough as nails.  A snuggle bug who squirms and moves constantly.  The kid who will only eat cantaloupe...despite his Mother's best attempt to provide every fruit under the sun.  Cantaloupe and sweet potatoes may be his two favorite foods....nothing like a good orange diet!

Sweet little Owen, you make me crazy...good thing you are so stinkin' cute.....without you, life wouldn't be the same.  I love you to the moon and back....running and screaming all the way!
