As we arrived in Asheville the first weekend in May, we stopped at the North Carolina Arboretum to take a nice little family hike. Chad and I had been there once before when we stayed in Asheville a few years ago. The trails aren't too extreme and we thought that would be a great start for Payton's first hike. Chad did have Owen in a front carrier and Payton did use lots of energy for the hike but we had a great time exploring in the mountains, walking along side the mountain stream, goofing off in the woods and loving our time together as a family. We took our time and enjoyed hiking for over an hour.

Owen loved his hike! He had an easy ride. Near the end, Chad let out a long, exhausted sigh...and Owen copied him! It was hilarious, as if he was really tired from all his hard work!

The NC Arboretum has lots of beautiful plants, flowers, trees, etc. After our hike, we had to get on the road and head to the hotel. We didn't get much time to check out the gardens but we did enjoy our post hike drinks with this view. If you're ever in the Asheville area, check out the Arboretum. You can find more info here.
For the rest of the weekend, we enjoyed family time and basketball.
Payton, Owen and Carson watching Calyn's game
Calyn's team won the 1st two games. Go Stealers! We loved being able to see her play at this level.
On Sunday morning, we had breakfast at Cracker Barrell and then enjoyed the rockers until it was time to head to Calyn's last game, the Championship game for the State Tournament.
A GREAT picture of the kids after Calyn's game
