In a flash!

I apologize once again (and again and again and again) for being SO behind on my blogging.  At least Easter has finally been celebrated!  We had a busy few weeks and I am just starting to catch up!

Two weekends after Easter, we were back in NC for the wedding of one of Chad's college friends, Marsha.  Marsha was also a basketball manager with Chad so the wedding gave us a chance to catch up with a few people we rarely see.  As a bonus, Marsha grew up near Statesville, NC...and, she grew up with our friend James....James and his wife Amy live here and we've become good friends.  Small world....certainly!  The wedding was even better having Amy and James along with us!  Chad and I were able to stay with my parents and they watched the kids while we went to the wedding and reception.  We had a great time celebrating with Marsha and Kevin....it was one of the most memorable wedding receptions I've been to in a while!

The next weekend, we headed to Asheville, NC.  We were excited to finally see Calyn play in a basketball tournament.  On our way up, we made a brief stop in Asheville and took our first hike as a family.  Chad did have to carry Owen in the front, baby carrier (he was just 2 pounds from the maximum weight!) so he got a little extra work out.   Payton walked the entire time and we had a great time.  We walked on trails that followed along a mountain stream and enjoyed soaking up the outdoors together as a family.  By the end of the hike, Payton was exhausted!  He paused at a tree and didn't want to go anymore!  He was a real trooper and made it to the end.  I don't like to wish the years away, but I can't wait for the day that we can all go for hikes together as a family.  I know the mountains are a good four hour drive but there is just something I love about hiking in the mountains!  I wish we could do it more often.

We were excited to get to the hotel after our hike and see Chad's family.  Luckily, Calyn's first game wasn't until late Saturday morning so we were able to enjoy a nice family dinner on Friday.  We were so lucky to be treated to dinner at the Grove Park.  They have a fabulous seafood buffet on Friday nights and we loved it!  I was nervous about how the kids would behave in a "fancy" restaurant but they did great!!  Before we went, I told Payton and Owen we were going to a restaurant where they could eat all of the fruit and veggies they wanted.  They did not disappoint....they both ate SO much!  Owen may have had an entire cantaloupe!

On Saturday, we were able to see Calyn play twice.  Her team won both games and she did great.  We had a late night on Saturday followed by breakfast at Craker Barrel on Sunday.  The kids used up their good restaurant behavior on Friday night....Saturday and Sunday's meals were a little hectic!  Unfortunately, Calyn's team lost the championship game on Sunday.  It was sad to see her lose but we are still happy we had the chance to see her play and enjoy time with Chad's family.

This weekend we were happy to be in town.  I am so far behind on housework, yard work....SO many things.  Despite being in town for the weekend we were still very busy and I didn't get much accomplished.  I worked on Friday.  We participated in the Great Strides walk on Sullivan's Island on Saturday.  I am happy to report that I did meet my goal for raising money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (THANK YOU!!).  We had lunch and an ice cream treat with friends after the walk.  I cleaned out cabinets while the kids napped and then we headed to dinner with Andrew and Laura (who are in the midst of moving).  We celebrated Mother's Day on Sunday.  Both boys told me "Happy Mother's Day" too many times to count.  I had a great day just being with my family....we went to church, had lunch and went to the grocery store....nothing fancy, but 100% perfect.  Owen and Payton spoiled me with hugs, kisses and their little voices saying "Happy Mother's Day."  I wish I had recorded Owen saying it...so precious.

Back to work today and our busy routine continues!

In just over 1 month, Owen will be TWO....I am starting to plan his party and deal with the fact that my baby is almost two!  Time continues to fly!
