More family time!

On Saturday, December 26th we traveled to my Aunt Linda's house in Charlotte to celebrate Christmas with my Mom's family. We always celebrate with them on the 26th which gives all of my cousins time to arrive from their own homes.

It is always great to see everyone at Aunt Linda's. I cherish my time with everyone because we see each much less frequently and unfortunately, keep in touch much less than we should! My Mom's side of the family is much more spread out than any of our other family members. My cousin Kim lives in Apex, NC; Joey lives in Cumming, GA; Sha lives in Sullivan's Island, SC; and Billy lives in Indian Trail, NC. Visits with everyone are few and far between! Luckily we do get to see Kim, Aubrey and Evan a few more times throughout the year when we travel to Chapel Hill. It is hard living in Charleston and being far away from them. We saw them a lot more when we lived in Chapel Hill...especially when I was doing laundry at their house while in college! Sha, Micheal, William, Emmet and Sully only live about 10 minutes from us in Charleston but we do not see each other as often as we should. I was so close with all of my cousins...even this side that always lived about 2 hours away...and I hope that Payton will always have that relationship even though we live a little further away from our family than Chad and I did when growing up. My cousin's on my Dad's side lived so far away that I could walk to their house to visit...in less than 5 minutes! We like to refer to it as the compound these days...growing up it seemed perfectly normal!

My cousins on my Mom's side now have a total of 8 kids - giving my Aunt Linda and Uncle Bill 8grand kids - ranging in age from 13 to 3, with only 2 girls! Payton was so excited to see all of them and wanted to try to play with the big kids. It made Mommy nervous to let him go upstairs and join in with the big boys and their big toys! Another night of wild, crazy kids just being kids and super excited to see each other.

We had a great time with everyone. Of course, we watched the Heels play in their bowl game. Of course, they lost in a game they could have won many times! Chad and my cousin Joey always have a great time talking sports - it is funny how similar they are - even in mannerisms! Joey's ADHD is untreated but thankfully doesn't seem as bad a Chad's!

I hope we get to see every one again before next Christmas! Next Christmas we will have 10 kids to celebrate with!
