Santa brings presents...again!

We arrived to find just a few presents waiting for us at my parent's house in Sherrills Ford. We spent the evening with my parents, my Papaw Joe and the three of us...plus Baby Webb :). After a busy Christmas Eve and Christmas morning it is always nice to arrive for a relaxing evening in Sherrills Ford.
Santa left all these presents for Payton. We were so happy that he knew to leave these presents at Grandma and Grandpa's house for Payton. Santa had some great gifts for Payton...he knew just what Payton would want for Christmas. He left some John Deere tractor toys, a train puzzle and new pieces of train track, a new stuffed Rameses, a "big truck," a football, a wooden train, and a full stocking. All of Payton's favorite things!
Payton gets his first glimpse at the gifts Santa had left for him.
The 1st thing he picked up....Rameses!
Next...the tractors!
The smile says it all! Christmas is certainly not about the gifts....but seeing the true excitement in a child's face sure makes it even more exciting!
Payton found a new toothbrush in his stocking and immediately wanted to show us how to use it! Dr. Wingate will be proud :)
Grandpa Joe gave Payton this HUGE Tonka dump truck...I've never seen such a big truck. Another big hit with Payton! He loved to load the back and dump it out! He even helped transport presents around the room.
Trains! Trains! More Trains!
This was certainly the Christmas for trains. Grandpa and Grandpa gave Payton several new trains, 2 stations - including a water tower and a honey station. Grandpa Joe gave Payton a few more trains and perfect carrying case. He loved all his trains!
Of course, Santa always brings a few clothes. Payton liked his new winter hat...and looked very cute while wearing it! This is about the time Payton started to slow down with opening his presents. It had been a long day and later we discovered that he had a low grade fever. He was already on antibiotics for a right ear infection diagnosed shortly before Christmas. So, a few presents were set aside and we waited to open them on Saturday morning...but one present could not wait! Grandma and Grandpa bought Payton a great present! In an earlier blog, he had asked Santa to bring him a tractor...he had no idea that Grandma and Grandpa knew he wanted a tractor too!
A TRACTOR!
He was so excited! He ran across the room, jumping up and down in excitement, and jumped on it to start driving. He wasn't sure of the battery powered idea - he didn't start pushing the "gas" on his own. After a few days, he was getting the hang of it. In fact, he nearly knocked Grandma's Christmas tree over on Sunday night. We would have blamed that on Grandpa's poor reaction time though!
Everyone looks on as Chad tries to show him to push the gas.
A very happy boy with his tractor and trailer!

We finished opening presents and then enjoyed a wonderful dinner of chicken pie...again. It was great. We had a great dinner with my parents and Papaw Joe. Unfortunately, his back is still causing him a great deal of pain (from a fall in September) but he did great all the way through dinner before it starting bothering him again. It is always great to enjoy a family dinner. Payton sat with us...off and on...but didn't really eat much. The majority of his diet on Christmas Day consisted of cookies, juice, and applesauce with honey.

After dinner, my Dad took my Papaw home as we attempted to get Payton to sleep. This was another bed to try in our holiday travels. He feel asleep in the twin bed but eventually ended up in my full size bed sleeping between us. Not a very restful night of sleep!

We had another wonderful Christmas Day - and despite the crazy schedule and added stress of traveling here, there, and everywhere, we really enjoyed spending time with most of our family members. We will cherish our Christmas Day memories for years to come!
