Born and Bred

Roy Williams just called a time out....amazing.

The Heels are loosing and looks like we are going to get blown out by the good ole' Dook Yucks...ugh.

I really hate them. I hate Duke and everything about the Men's basketball program and I turn into a terrible, awful person when watching the games.  I hate their chants and their body pant.  I despise Coach K.  All the way down to my little finger, I hate them.  I even hate their stupid little managers who wear their duke blue polos and black pants.  I hate the way they wipe the floors.  I think it's all a great big conspiracy that Coach K gets by without technicals.  I think it's ridiculous that even my five year old calls them out on their flops. I hate that no matter who they play, the fouls never seem to be called fairly.  Hate.  It's a strong word and I wish it wasn't true but even as a grown woman, I hate them.  .....and, they hit another three.  I also hate the announcers that call their games.  It's nothing new, I have hated them my whole life and while I don't think I should teach my children that it is acceptable to have such hatred for any thing, let alone a group of people, I think it's almost genetic and I think they have already picked up a certain amount of dislike.   It's inevitable.

I appreciate their medical center, especially the pediatric heme/onc department.  I appreciate their nursing program and seminary school.  I like the few people I know personally who graduated from the university...it's just the program that I hate.

Ok, I'll quit saying hate.  I just really wanted to win this game and make it 13 straight wins....but it ain't lookin' good!

Other than this game, we had a wonderful day.  It's days like today that make me happy that we are back in NC.

We headed to SF early this morning.  We made a quick stop by the lake house.  Visited with my mom for about an hour and a half.  We all went to meet my Dad for lunch at our favorite local restaurant...where Owen knows the waitress so well that he commented on her new highlights and glasses!  We headed over to my little cousin's 9th birthday party.  The boys enjoyed playing with their cousins.  We picked Bailey up and have her back in EB with us for the week.  We made it back for Payton's basketball banquet and enjoyed seeing him get his trophy.  He really enjoyed playing basketball and the banquet was a nice way to end the season.

The boys will likely be disappointed by the outcome of the game in the morning but thats the way it works with this rivalry.  The wins feel awesome but the losses are a giant punch in the face.  The losses are never okay.

Even with the (predicted) loss, I am still a proud Tar Heel and happy to be back in the Tar Heel state ...where the skies were a beautiful shade of Carolina blue today.

Tar Heel born, Tar Heel bred and when I die, you better not dress me in duke blue!
