Whew...

Birthdays are exhausting!

I hope Payton had a wonderful day...his Mommy is so tired!

We started our day early - today was picture day so he had to be up early to get dressed and fix his hair.  We also had to be read for a facetime call from Daddy at 7:20.

We were all happy to hear from Daddy and see his smiling face - at 5:20 in the morning Honduras time!

After that, we rushed Payton to school....in the snowy, rainy, sleeting mess....what is this weather?!?  I told Payton this may be the only time he sees snow on his birthday.

Later in the morning, I learned that my car was stuck in the garage because the garage door would not go up - good thing my brother-in-law is the garage door expert!  Also, good thing my mother-in-law was able to taxi us around all morning!

We had lunch out for Owen - where he had to help rescue a little boy who had climbed too high in the play area.  It wasn't funny for that little kid or for his grandma, but Owen was so sweet trying to help...my tiny three year old to the rescue!

From there, we headed over to get Payton's cupcakes and a birthday balloon....and, took those cupcakes to his class for a little party.  I am so glad I decided to do that.  I don't know many of the kids in his class so it was fun to see all the kids and put some faces to the names that Payton talks about every day.  His teacher is great and did a great job making him feel special on his birthday.

We picked Carson up from school because the weather had rained out golf.

Uncle Allen worked on our garage door.

Grandma and Grandpa arrived to see the birthday boy and head to dinner.  We left around 5:30 for dinner....with a party of 12!  Grandma, Grandpa, Meme, Pawpaw, Chandra, Allen, KK, and Carson were all able to join us to celebrate. The boys were wild - so, so wild  - but we survived.

Back to the house for cake and presents...and more extremely wild behavior!

Payton got some great presents - new school clothes, a church outfit, money, a new bathing suit, a new golf hat, golf glove, golf balls and neon golf tees, jelly beans, and sunglasses.  He did impress Mommy by politely saying thank you to everyone...at least some things stick with him and occasionally his manners shine through!

Grandma and Grandpa stayed late to hold Sawyer while I got the big boys tucked in bed...amazingly enough, they were in bed by 9:30.

We have had many late nights this week...I think we are all a little too tired!

I can't believe it is only Tuesday!  Seems like it should be Friday!

Having a six year old is exhausting!  Thanks to all of our family for making our first birthday back in NC very special.  I am a big birthday girl, so celebrating with all of our family was special....even if the kids were wild, these are the things they will remember for years!  For example, my Nannie always insisted that we go eat on the day of our birthday...I remember so many of those family birthday dinners...and Dad, I especially remember the one when you dropped my cake...or maybe I remember Mom fussing at you!  Good thing you didn't drop the cake this year!

Thanks again for an extra special birthday celebration for my little six year old!
