I'm a Tarheel Born, I'm a Tarheel Bred.....

Once again we hit the road on Friday and headed north to Chapel Hill and to "Uncle" Kade's.  He graciously lets us invade his home every time we come into town.  On Friday, when he arrived home from work I had already replaced his normal coffee table decor with baby items.  I'm sure he was thrilled!

Despite the rainy weather, we were ready for the UNC v. Georgia Tech game at noon.  Meme, Pawpaw, Calyn and Carson made the trip from East Bend for the game as well.  We were all excited to see each other!
We have Marcus Ginyard (Payton), Tyler Hansbrough (Calyn), and Ty Lawson (Carson) represented!  I think they would make a pretty good team....as soon as Payton can walk!  One things for sure, Payton has a couple hand-me-down jerseys to look forward too!  Will they be throw backs in 5 years??

Thanks to Will and Angela, we were able to sit in the lower level on Row 1 for the game....yes, sideline.  Payton was mesmerized by all the activity.

During pre-game warm-ups Payton cheered for Tyler and the rest of the team.  Yay!   As we started to walk down the stairs to get to our seats, the band started playing and fans started cheering.  Without any prompting, Payton started clapping as well.  Clearly, he's already a fan!
GO HEELS!
Payton enjoyed being front and center.  Early in the first half, Georgia Tech player Maurice Miller was trying to save a ball heading out of bounds.  He did not save the ball; however, he did land on top of Chad and Payton.  Thankfully, there we no injuries.  Payton may have been a little stunned and Mom was a little anxious for the remainder of the game anytime a loose ball headed our way!

Payton took a brief nap during half-time.  He woke back up to see most of the second half.  It truly seems that Payton has already developed a love for basketball.  His favorite toys are basketballs and he is always happy to watch a basketball game.  He watched the game for 2 hours. He never tried to get down, never fussed, never even wiggled.  He watched closely - every time the ball went up and and down the court he watched it go by.  Occasionally, he clapped.  He is so excited to see his first UNC v. Duke game next weekend.  Unfortunately, we'll be back in the nosebleed section.  Still thankful to be in the building but not likely to have an ongoing conversation with the referee!

After the game we headed to Chili's for a little time with Chad's family.  Calyn enjoyed taking pictures and recording video of Payton on her new cell phone.  Her mommy will enjoy seeing these at home.
The girls and Payton.

The boys and Payton.

Currently we are back at Kade's - with toys spread ALL OVER the living room.  Many of you will be happy to know that Payton has taken a few steps on his own - from the couch, where Chad was sitting, to the recliner, where Kade was sitting.  It truly won't be long before he takes a few more and keeps going and going!

Happy Saturday!
